Referral Testing Supervisor - Lenexa, KS - Monday to Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
Referral Testing Supervisor supervise all functions within Referral Testing Department. Responsible for overseeing department activities such as daily operations of Referral Testing, compliance training, personnel and competency, monitoring quality, productivity and functions related to customer satisfaction. Ensure maintenance of a safe, ergonomically sound, professional environment. Must know and understand all functions of the Referral Testing Department.
Pay Range: $54,700+ per year
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

- Responsible for daily operations of department.
- Oversee safety, ergonomics, maintenance, and cleanliness of department (including upgrades, repairs, etc).
- Implement national and local SOPs for Referral Testing in accordance with Quest Diagnostics guidelines.
- Where applicable, ensures all Federal, State and local licensure requirements are met and documented working with the QA and Medical Director’s offices.
- Ensures all Laboratory QA/QC documentation is complete and reviewed as required.
- Ensures integrity of specimens sent to other facilities meet the criteria necessary to provide accurate and timely results.
- Monitor Non-Quest referrals for internalization opportunities.
- Ensures all pending and overdue lists are resolved in timely manner.
- Supervise packing and shipping of specimens to other laboratories.
- Ensure compliance with all Hazmat regulations as described in Hazmat Procedure Manual.
- Reviews Referral Testing Standard Operating Procedure Manual on an annual basis and ensures departmental compliance. Identifies need for revisions and/or additional SOP’s as indicated.
- Monitor the quality of manual resulting
- Ensure all employees meet Compliance Guidelines and Competency Testing.
- Monitor special handling of Jeopardized Clients, Hospital Clients and Vital Specimens to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Must be able to establish and motivate a participative work environment.
- Hold regularly scheduled meetings for dissemination of all information to staff.
- Track/enter time/attendance of employees.
- Prepare month-end reports.
- Investigates/resolves and responds to internal and external customer issued effectively in a timely manner.
- Oversees departmental scheduling in an effort to maximize coverage and minimize overtime.
- Oversees inventory process for department.
- Oversees implementation of improvement and/or standardization initiatives.
- Participate in the interview, selection and hiring of new employees.
- Supervises training and development of Referral Testing staff.
- Perform midyear/annual performance appraisal and corrective actions and counseling as required.
- Assist manager in preparation of annual budget for areas of responsibility.
- Supervises departmental efficiency to assure fiscal responsibilities are met.
- Participate on Six Sigma projects and Process Improvement Teams, or other initiatives to meet management objectives.
- Organize and lead projects both within the work group and with cross-functional groups. May be required to give presentations and speak in groups.
- Effectively work with other Quest Facilities and Vendors to resolve issues.
- Interfaces with local and national database resources to define requirements to support referral testing needs.
- Writes and or updates department Standard Operating Procedures.
- Monitors and posts Referral Vendor Metrics.
- Assesses staffing requirements on a daily basis and adjusts to meet department needs
- Accepts responsibility for special projects, meeting expected deadlines.
- Demonstrates ability to complete assignments as requested by the manager.
- Supports and embraces Business Unit goals and corporate initiatives.
- Utilize two-way communication with staff to enhance supervisor employee relationship
- Drives for continuous improvement in areas of Quality and Customer Service.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Work Experience:

Preferred Work Experience:
Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Knowledge:
Thorough knowledge of all Client Service, Specimen Processing and Referral department policies.
Skills:
- Experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
- Demonstrates strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Manage concerns of clients, technical departments and employees in a professional manner.
- Maintains a positive, accessible, and professional environment
