SUMMARY:
The technical manager has the
overall responsibility for the planning, coordination, evaluation, and
supervision of the technical activities in an Anatomic Pathology laboratory.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provides managerial direction to the lab and oversees daily functioning of supervisory personnel and high complexity testing areas; mentors and supports the supervisors of the technical lab areas (Cytology, Histology, etc.) as well as the lab testing personnel.
-Continually monitors equipment and recommends upgrades as needed.
-Monitors and controls operating costs. Reviews and prepares budgets.
-Ensures lab procedures meet quality standards.
-Prepares reports for senior management of lab testing activities.
-Defines, coordinates, and monitors quality assurance programs in cooperation with the Quality Assurance Specialist. -Ensures quality control and compliance procedures are followed and QC reports are up to date. Oversee plans and prepares for inspections.
-Oversees staffing of all personnel in the Anatomic Pathology laboratory. Effectively maintains quality staffing by interviewing, hiring, training and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
-Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
-Perform other duties as assigned by leadership or as business needs dictate.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education Preferred:
Bachelor's degree
Work Experience:
8+ years of AP (Histology or Cytology or Grossing)
Special Requirements:
At least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
