Job Details
- Maintains adequate staffing by interviewing, hiring, training, and competency assessment of personnel.
- Performs the scheduling, planning, staffing, and monitoring of workflow to meet established goals.
- Provides staff development through regular communication/feedback, effective performance management, and corrective counseling.
- Provides technical oversight of area(s) of responsibility and serves as a technical resource for problem-solving and process improvement to ensure accurate test performance.
- Monitors and ensures implementation of goals to meet established quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement plans.
- Procures appropriate supplies and equipment to maximize department efficiency and meet established budgetary and quality goals.
- Performs direct specimen testing/troubleshooting as needed to maintain adequate workflow.
- Uses effective two-way communication in leading/participating in general laboratory/section meetings. Ensures Performance Boards are updated and Huddles are taking place on a regular basis.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements through documentation, audits, and corrective action.
- Interacts with internal and external customers to ensure proper sample handling and reporting.
- Participates in the updating of departmental standard operating procedures and database to accurately reflect the current practices.
- Participates in supervisory skills training.
- Supports continuous improvement activities.
- Supports, implements, and ensures compliance with all department and company policies and procedures.
- Complies with all health and safety policies, procedures, and practices. Required to use personal protective equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Work Experience:
Minimum of 6 years of experience as a medical technologist or equivalent in a clinical laboratory environment

Physical and Mental Requirements:
- The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects. Objects in the weight range of 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects in the weight range of 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally and objects in the weight range of 26 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted and carried. Objects exceeding 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks. Frequent simple grasping, reaching and fine manipulation.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods.
- Have good eye and hand coordination.

- Must have proven leadership, interpersonal, communication, and technical skills in the specialty area being supervised.

Current State Clinical Laboratory Scientist license if necessary (e.g. California)(Required)
