Job Details
Oversees technical lab operations for units with between $70mm and $400mm in revenue but greater than 500 employees. Responsible through lab managers for quality and timeliness of technical procedures, compliance, and overall lab budget. Labs located in Memphis, TN, Denver and Indianapolis. 50% travel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for managing the day to day operations of all Anatomic Pathology laboratories designated by AmeriPath leadership. In addition, the AP Director will work with the Quest Diagnostics regional leaders to accomplish specific objectives by laboratory operation.
- Responsible for the quality and timeliness for technical and support staff work product, standard procedures, compliance with applicable testing requirements and departmental budgets.
- Travel required to off-site facilities, meeting with clients and Commercial support as directed by AmeriPath leadership or as needed by business.
- Monitors work performed by Anatomic Pathology technical staff, regularly reviewing TAT metrics and pending work in progress in conjunction with the Medical Director. Assesses the quality of work performed by use of proficiency testing, quality control, maintenance records and adherence to SOP's.
- Train technical staff as required to troubleshoot/address technical problems.
- Create and continuously evaluate objectives and goals for Anatomic Pathology in conjunction with the Medical Director. Ensure that Anatomic Pathology meets all criteria for licensing, Pathologist credentialing and accreditation by CAP/CMS and conform to all other applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Responsible for assuring that laboratory meets all CAP and FDA Regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate new procedures and/or equipment for recommendation of its use.
- Review and update existing procedures as needed, assuring the safety of AP staff.
- Coordinate activities with other departments such as Logistics, Specimen Processing, Clinical Laboratory, IT, Commercial etc. as needed.
- Responsible for interactions with vendors and other Quest Diagnostics locations as needed.
- Other duties as assigned to support AP Operations.
- Education: MBA or Master's Degree preferred with management courses.
- Experience in Anatomic Pathology laboratory operations.
- Candidate should be knowledgeable and experienced in overseeing Cytology, Histology and Anatomic Pathology support areas.
- 10 years work experience, minimum of 5 years in management, managing a large group of employees (50 or more) in medical/laboratory related environment.
