Job Details
The Director is responsible for leading and managing a team of proposal managers that support the Pharma and Diagnostic solutions business. This role serves as both the process owner and manager for this critical group that partners closely with Business Development and Operations teams to create winning proposals for new potential work to be performed by the Pharma and Diagnostic solutions team.
- Responsible and accountable for developing processes to ensure the timely delivery of custom solutions that meet the client needs.
- Leads and manages a team of proposal managers/analysts that partner with Business Development and Operations to develop custom solutions to meet client needs.
- Partners with clients, Business Development, and Operations team to create proposals to support new projects.
- Create new processes and practices to optimize and grow the Biopharma and Diagnostic services division for specific client requests/project needs.
- Create financial models for considered work, and partner with finance to gain approvals.
- Lead solution development for potential work being contemplated with the appropriate internal stakeholders, and securing their approvals/disapprovals for potential work.
- Prepare and produce relevant business proposal reports to understand and project future work volumes and revenues.
- Identify insights into internal workflows and sponsor requested work to optimize the contemplated work.
- May lead client governance interactions for select clients.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study is required. An advanced degree (MS/MBA) is preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in the laboratory, biopharma, and/or diagnostic industry in a client-facing operational role and/or a sales role.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in proposals or operations management in a contract research organization.
- Must be a highly skilled user of the Microsoft Office suite and other computer-based applications.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and quantitative skills will be essential.
- Demonstrable ability to lead and motivate a team, collaborate cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders and constituencies, and communicate/influence expertly.
- Periodic travel (~10-15%) may be required.

Virtual work options
Quest Virtual Model allows eligible Quest employees to work either a hybrid schedule (two to three days from home per workweek), a near-site schedule (primarily from home with occasional work in a Quest office), or fully remote. Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis with the employee’s manager and HR Business Partner.
