Senior Lead Designer, User Experience
Job Description
The Senior Lead User Experience (UX) Designer will create and oversee the thoughtful design of digital products taken from research to prototype. The UX Designer will work as part of Quest’s Digital Solutions and Interoperability team and with others across Digital Product Management and Experience Design to identify design problems, devise elegant solutions, inform strategic design and user experience decisions, and rapidly test and iterate designs for clients. The role will drive strategy for designing digital interactions across user journeys and use an iterative process to refine, prototype, test, and communicate solutions.
The Senior Lead UX Designer will be a key voice in solving meaningful and complex problems in healthcare. Through critical thinking, excellent product development knowledge, and deep technical skills. This role will have a deep understanding of human-centered design and an endless desire to create best-in-class experiences that meet or surpass user needs and expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of designers in the discovery and defining of quality user experiences for new and ongoing products, mentoring and guiding junior designers, and ensuring alignment with best-in-class practices and standards.
- Maintain ownership of the product vision for multiple products and/or business units by providing creative solutions for end-to-end user experiences, facilitating cross-functional team collaboration, driving execution and deliverables, and ensuring product design is in line with company standards.
- Influence company-wide design standards and contribute to design system governance.
- Proactively provide recommendations to the Director to enhance the team’s performance and impact.
- Engage in regular communication with stakeholders to gain insights into their forthcoming roadmap and develop a comprehensive plan for UX support that the Director can review.
- Recognized as a leading figure in Product Design with a comprehensive skill set in UX, UI, and UR.
- Oversee annual audits for the products we support and create comprehensive reports for product owners.
- Collaborate directly with product leadership and executives to make design decisions that influence business outcomes.
- Capable of serving as the initial point of escalation for problem resolution.
- Onboard and offboard designers to their products, team norms, and introduce them to stakeholders.
- Mentor, guide, and partner with designers in achieving the optimal balance of functionality, usability, and quality of the product.
- Provide quality feedback and creative solutions to problems while working alongside leadership to ensure a high level of quality across all product features.
- Collaborate with product management, business, marketing, engineering, and other designers to define and implement pragmatic solutions for Quest’s digital product experiences.
- Identify and drive user research opportunities to help inform and validate design decisions.
- Provide the user centered perspective and requirements during Epic and Feature definition.
- Present and defend concepts to peers and executive level stakeholders to gain alignment and set a path forward.
- Assist UX Researchers in conducting product evaluations and collecting user feedback for incorporation into further iterations of designs.
- Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards through the implementation and maintenance of Quest’s design system.
- Advocate and evangelize for design thinking and user-centered design.
- Collaborate with UI designers in the creation of High-fidelity prototypes.
- Recognize patterns or opportunities within the product and communicate those with your product team
- Develop the process/approach for attacking a design problem, using known methods, and anticipating problems.
- Be able to think strategically across products and experiences. Identify new opportunities based on customer needs that support the business objectives.
- Anticipate and recognize technical or product constraints that will negatively impact the user experience and facilitate alignment sessions with the product team.
- Conduct competitive research and create summarized findings with recommendations.
- On large-scale projects, define the end-to-end experience and coordinate with other designers to ensure dependencies are understood and we deliver a world-class product.
- Lead discussions/workshops with business, marketing, and product stakeholders to define strategic goals and how to achieve them iteratively.
- Can easily recognize patterns or strategic opportunities across products and experiences and take ownership to drive it forward with product owners.
- Guide and advise external vendors & agencies on our UX practices and standards.
- Expertly plan, drive, and facilitate workshops when necessary.
- Anticipate and recognize impacts or opportunities to a customer segment and facilitate alignment sessions with senior leaders.
- Assess new demand, understand the UX and research impacts, and draft a plan and level-of-effort.
- Evaluate vendor proposals or SoW’s and guide and advise on UX and research needs.
Qualifications:
Required Work Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in design of digital product experiences using dedicated design tools and digital processes.
- Demonstratable experience of utilizing user research to inform and/or validate design decisions.
- Experience creating user flows, journey maps, service blueprints, personas, low-fidelity wireframes and/or prototypes.
- Experience conducting competitive analysis and other relevant research.
- Proven experience in leading organizational design transformation initiatives.
Preferred Work Experience:
- Experience working within a SAFe Agile methodology is preferred.
- Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred

- Understanding interactive experiences, channels, and systematic design principles
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of a SAFe Agile methodology
Skills:
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills with the ability to gain alignment on and defend design decisions when necessary.
Required:
- Work in an office or a remote setting.
- Travel up to 25%
- Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Communications, web design, Design Thinking, Design Strategy, or related field.
- English required

- Master’s degree is preferred
