Glassware Technician

Glassware Technician - Chantilly, VA - Monday - Friday 7:00AM-3:30PM

The Glassware Technician picks up and washes used glassware from technical departments.  Distributes cleaned items to the appropriate section of clinical laboratories for storage.  The incumbent actively supports and complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures. 

Pay Range: $17.20+ per hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

• Washes laboratory equipment such as glassware, instrument parts, trays, pans, etc. according to established methods. 
• Helps with preparation of client supplies as needed and as time permits. 
• Examines cleaned equipment to detect breakage and discards damaged or broken equipment in accordance with department procedures. 
• Delivers cleaned items to the appropriate section of clinical laboratories for storage. 
• May sterilize glassware and instrument parts, using autoclave. 
• Prepares special cleaning solutions as needed. 
• Orders replacement glassware for various technical departments on an as-needed basis. 
• Follows all established safety procedures. 
• Performs other ancillary duties as assigned.

Physical and Mental Requirements:  

• Ability to lift 25 pounds required. 
• Finger dexterity required to manipulate small objects during cleaning and sterilization duties. 
• Manual dexterity required to place and arrange articles in sterilizer and cabinets and on shelves. 

Knowledge:  

N/A

Skills:  

• Employee must be able to handle glassware carefully and avoid breakage. 
• Ability to work with minimum supervision. 
• Ability to follow directions.
