Referral Testing Specialist - San Juan Capistrano, CA - Monday - Friday 9:00AM-5:30PM
This position is focused on working with the Referral Manager to ensure continuous compliance and quality during all phases of activities in the Referral Testing department. Responsible for overseeing the following activities: daily operations of Referral Testing, quality and compliance training, monitoring quality, productivity and functions related to customer satisfaction. Referral Testing Specialist supports the overall company goals to facilitate business with internal and external performing laboratories to provide Quest clients with a superior experience. The Specialist is responsible for providing feedback and coaching directly to representatives in a meaningful and constructive manner to ensure highest quality and compliance. Must know and understand all functions of the Referral Testing Department.
Pay Range: $55,200 - $77,400 / year
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

- Responsible for monitoring daily operations of the department.
- Under Manager’s direction, ensures all Vendor’s Federal, State & local licensure requirements are met and documented.
- Ensures QA/QC documentation is complete and reviewed as required.
- Ensure compliance with HazMat regulations as described in Hazmat Procedure Manual.
- Ensure all employees meet business Compliance Guidelines.
- Prepare daily internal metrics, lead team huddles, and produce month-end reports.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports for Manager, Sales, Client Services, Specimen Management, Accounts Payable, Finance, Billing and other groups upon request.
- Investigates/resolves and responds to internal and external customer issues effectively in a timely manner.
- Performs periodic department call monitoring.
- Audits invoices from Referral Vendors and facilitates approval and payment process.
- Identifies pricing discrepancies and works with National Referral Testing, Billing, and Compliance teams to resolve billing issues.
- Provides direct coaching for quality improvement and compliance, and implements development plans (as required).
- Assists manager in preparation of annual budget.
- Monitors departmental efficiency to assure fiscal responsibilities are met.
- Participate on Six Sigma projects and Process Improvement Teams, or other initiatives to meet management objectives.
- Participate on Compliance teams and support Quality Assurance projects.
- Organize and lead projects both within the work group and with cross-functional groups.
- Accepts responsibility for special projects, meeting expected deadlines.
- Demonstrates ability to complete assignments as requested by the manager.
- Support and embrace Business Unit goals and corporate initiatives.
- Utilize transparent communication with staff to enhance team relationship.
- Adjust working schedule to accommodate meetings.
- Must be able to establish and motivate a participative work environment.
- Able to manage concerns of clients, technical departments and employees in a professional manner.
- Drives for continuous improvement in areas of Quality, Customer Service, and Compliance.
- Leads by example in demonstrating gold standards behaviors.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Work Experience:
- Thorough knowledge of Referral Testing, Client Service, Specimen Management, Compliance, and Quality policies.
Preferred Work Experience:
- Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
Knowledge:
- Experience with Microsoft Suite applications.
- Working knowledge of database applications and ability to learn technology quickly.
Skills:
- Must have the skills to maintain a positive, accessible, and professional environment.
- Demonstrates strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
