Sr. Associate Scientist (HPLC - LCMS)
Job Description
Participates on a team of scientists in the development and validation of clinical mass spectrometry assays. Incumbent will work in the laboratory.
Responsibilities:
- Perform clinical assay development and validation under the supervision of senior scientists and the scientific director.
- Performs laboratory experiments following established protocols and company procedures.
- Record results in company approved templates. Document other relevant experimental results.
- Interprets results of experiments and make recommendations for improvements. Identifies problems and investigates alternatives. Follows recommended course of action.
- Work with team members and other business units (operations, product transfer, project management, and quality departments) to meet department and project objectives.
- Works under general supervision, receiving instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions. Assistance is furnished on unusual problems and work is reviewed for application of sound professional judgment.
Qualifications:
Required Work Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience with an MS / MA degree
Preferred Work Experience:
- HPLC and Mass spectrometry experience
- Clinical assay validation experience
- Fluent in Excel
- Programing experience

Knowledge:
- Knowledgeable in the use of common laboratory equipment and safe chemical handling.
- Requires a knowledge of related products and technologies gained through developmental experience in an academic or industrial setting.
Skills:
- Requires strong planning, organization and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as professional journals, operating instructions, and procedures. Ability to write complete reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to problem-solving situations.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance and correlation techniques.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a variety of situations.
