Position Description

The Director, Market Analytics is a hands-on analytics professional with experience in using predictive modeling, forecasting, customer analytics and data mining to derive insights and recommendations. The Director will provide the technical leadership and mentorship for the Market Analytics team, ensuring sound methodologies and best practices are employed. This role is highly collaborative and works cross-functionally to develop insights to optimize marketing campaigns and programs, track customer experience, develop market level forecasts and lead opportunity assessments. This will be accomplished by creating and executing advanced analytics, and by presenting results and recommendations. Also, the function will build and deploy the foundational capabilities that will allow for ongoing collection, analysis and reporting of Consumer and Health Care Professional customer experience.

This position will manage a team of analytics professionals. It is critical that the individual be able to contribute in a highly matrixed organization to enable evidence-based decision-making. It is essential that this individual be able to synthesize outputs from analytical tools and methods and communicate them to colleagues who are not subject matter experts in a way that they can determine appropriate actions they should take based on the derived insights.

 

Other Responsibilities Include

  • Creates near and long-term forecasts (familiarity with statistical trend/cycle/seasonal methods like exponential smoothing and ARIMA) and understands demand-driven forecasting and consensus forecasting

  • Drives cross-functional alignment and partnership to establish the appropriate application of analytics to CX measurement, ROI analyses, regression analysis, control vs. target, market-level forecasting, financial modeling and opportunity assessments

  • Creates actional customer segmentations

  • Serves as a thought leader to the team in building analyses, troubleshooting issues and developing analytical approaches

  • Prepares and delivers presentations that allow insights to be readily extracted and understood from large amounts of data

  • Leads in the development, standardization and implementation of customer experience tracking and reporting

  • Organizes and allocates team and other resources efficiently; ensures consistency in analytic methodologies

  • Conducts market sizing and opportunity analysis utilizing secondary research methods, financial analysis, demand modeling, product lifecycle, S-curves, industry knowledge, product development, primary research

  • Trains and develops staff to product actionable insights

  • Utilizes new technology to improve efficiency and accuracy

  • Supports strategic initiatives and ad hoc requests

  • Supports department needs for ad hoc reporting

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s level degree in mathematics, economics or related field (e.g. MBA, MPH, MS) is preferred

  • 10+ years in analytics or finance in a business organization; 7+ years analyzing large data sets and creating data models to inform decision-making

  • Experience working in a regulated industry preferred. Experience working within life-sciences and customer experience a plus

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to function in a sometimes ambiguous environment that seeks to achieve a higher level of analytical maturity

  • Seamlessly manages multiple simultaneous projects and the flow of information across multiple work groups

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed organization

  • Ability to represent department across the company (especially with senior leaders) and translate ‘asks’ into analytical solutions that address underlying business needs

  • Hands-on experience measuring customer experience (CSAT, CES, NPS) and familiarity with enterprise-wide customer experience platforms such as Qualtrics, Medallia, and/or Confirmit

  • Experience predicting, monitoring and measuring the performance of marketing programs/ campaigns, including attribution modeling

  • Skilled in market-level forecasting and market opportunity assessments for new products/services in B2C, B2B and data-thin environments

  • Experience developing self-service repositories and tools that democratize access to data and insights

  • Highly proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products, statistical packages (SAS, SPSS), database query languages (SQL), data analytics platforms (Alteryx) and data visualization tools (Tableau).

  • Thorough understanding of statistics as it relates to analyzing data sets and understanding their limitations

  • Ability to prepare and present clear and concise written communications, both in report and presentation formats to stakeholders at all levels including senior executives

  • Team oriented – ability to lead, motivate and work well with diverse, cross-functional teams

  • Strong project management, skills; ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Initiative – ability to independently problem solve and find resolutions
