Interface Specialist
This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and support of interfaces between Quest Diagnostic applications and customer applications or Quest Lab Systems to Quest Laboratory instruments.
*Note this is a hybrid opportunity located in Schaumburg IL (3 days in the office 2 days work from home)
Pay Range: $75K - $90K/ year
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Performs and facilitates research and testing, provide overall project leadership to ensure interfaces conform to the Quest HL7 standards.
- Responsible for multiple implementations or conversion projects.
- Participates in information gathering for interface requirements.
- Educates and directly interacts with stakeholders to help them understand the benefits and limitations of their specific EMR/LIS-Interface during implementation.
- Provides direct interaction with client and client’s vendor
- Designs and oversees interface implementation project plan.
- Responsible for providing project status updates.
- Will provide communications such as go-live notices, support documentation and operational checklists to our internal organization relative to any new or change to existing client interface.
- Implementation of communication scripts and protocols to include dialup, VPN and frame and web services.
- Provides 3rd tier support (as defined in the Support SOP) to EMR/LIS-Interface related problems.
- Provides post implementation support
- Responsible for escalating implementation and support issues to appropriate persons or groups for resolution.
- Coordinate user-group sessions with EMR/LIS-Interfaced clients and internal staff to provide a forum for exchange of ideas to improve the overall delivery of our services.
- Meets productivity requirements for this position
Education: BS in Computer Science or related technical field is preferred
Work Experience:
- Required 2-5 years of experience in medical lab operations and IT functions, including direct involvement in clinical interface configuration/maintenance/support.
- Exposure to clinical healthcare environment.
- 2-5 years experience implementing 3rd party EMR/LIS systems with emphasis on Epic, Cerner, Meditech, SCC Soft, as well as EMR’s including eCW, NextGen, and others

- Must be proficient using Microsoft Office Suite of products, Microsoft Project a plus
- Functional understanding of HL7 standards is required
- Experience with XML and SQL is preferred
- Experience with SoapUI is highly preferred
- Experience with Web Services is highly preferred
- Experience with SFTP is preferred
- Familiarity with a commercial Integration Engine Product (i.e. Cloverleaf) a plus
