Job Description


The Marketing & Communications Director is responsible for leading marketing, communications, and brand strategy efforts for a new diagnostics lab company exclusively serving the Michigan market. This is a multi-faceted role that will be responsible for the development and launch of the brand positioning, delivery of external and internal communications, and build and execution of a marketing plan. This role will collaborate closely with brand, marketing, and communications shared services teams within two parent organizations. The position reports to the senior commercial leader and will be remote/hybrid in Southfield, Michigan.




Responsibilities:
  • Develop and launch a comprehensive brand position
    • Establishes brand positioning and visual identity
    • Drives internal understanding of brand and the role employees, who regularly are interfacing with our customers, play in delivering a branded experience
    • Oversee the development of consistent, clear, and compelling messaging that communicates the organization’s strategy, purpose, and values
    • Serves as a strategic advisor to the senior leadership team, crafting and delivering high-impact communications that advance the organization’s goals
    • Oversee the development and execution of the marketing and media plan
  • Leadership:
    • Serves as a strategic advisor to business leaders
    • Builds relationships, collaborates, and liaisons with stakeholders from Sales, Clinical Solutions, Legal, Compliance, and Operations.
  • Leads identification, understanding, and socialization of voice of customer insights as well as market dynamics and drivers
  • Collects, updates, maintains and socializes competitive intelligence and analysis
  • Leads the development of an annual strategic marketing plan to support business objectives and secure needed funding
  • Develops and maintains a brand asset portal to manage verbal and identity, trademarks, and intellectual property
  • Develops and maintains a marketing technology roadmap to adopt systems and processes that support marketing execution including workflow management, CRM, DAM, and CMS. 




Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • Minimum 10+ years success in marketing communications or brand role with increasing responsibility. Healthcare marketing experience preferred. 5+ years in a strategy and leadership role. 
  • Up to 10% business travel required
  • Team oriented – ability to motivate and work well with diverse, cross-functional teams and in a highly matrixed environment; demonstrated ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
  • Superior strategic thinking and analytical skills to synthesize market/customer insights into prioritized business opportunities; strong capabilities in analyzing data to demonstrate quantifiable opportunities or results; ability to conceptualize complex ideas
  • Excellent project management skills, including management of agencies and vendors to ensure execution
  • Superior storytelling and strong communication skills including ability to develop and deliver formal business presentations. 
  • Knowledge of the Michigan healthcare landscape 
  • Initiative – ability to independently problem solve and find resolutions
  • Minimum 10+ years success in marketing communications or brand role with increasing responsibility. Healthcare marketing experience preferred. 5+ years in a strategy and leadership role.
