Senior Specialist, External Communications (Hybrid)

The Senior Specialist, External Communications will help advance the company’s external reputation through media relations and other communications with emphasis on citizenship, community and consumer affairs. This includes supporting key business leaders, including the CHRO and head of the company’s Quest for Health Equity program, in developing thought leadership narratives and developing story ideas and securing news coverage with journalists. It also includes targeted local media to generate awareness for the company’s presence and commitments to the community. The individual will also oversee daily news reporting to senior leaders (the “Our World Today” report) and annual media analysis report.

This individual will be based in Secaucus, NJ (hybrid work/home). Occasional travel may be required.

Pay Range: $96,000 - $133,000 / year

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

• Supports the execution of a broad range of PR activities for the company’s key business and reputation areas, with emphasis on citizenship/community and consumer
• Coordinates with range of leaders including in Communications, Legal, Medical, HR and the Business
• Creates a broad range of PR content, including for the company’s CSR report and community awards, in collaboration with others
• Coordinates directly with journalists, and manages and coaches leaders for media interviews
• Aids in monitoring and reporting of news coverage
• Supports coordination with Agency Partners, Media Content Providers and other vendors
• Facilitates Legal and other review of PR content
• Monitors media coverage and escalates awareness of issues
• Develops media coverage reports and the company’s daily news report for management

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a Liberal Arts discipline or Communications or Journalism

Required Work Experience:

• 5-7 years of corporate or external communications experience in an agency or large public company
• Demonstrated writing and editing ability
• Experience with PR platforms, such as Cision/PRNewswire and Muckrack
• Experience with consumer PR and healthcare PR

• Strong writer and storyteller, translates sophisticated scientific, medical and and health information technology content into accessible prose
