Senior Solutions Architect
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced FHIR Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of healthcare data exchange solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of FHIR standards and related technologies, including HL7 v2/v3 and will be able to work collaboratively with various EHR vendors to ensure seamless integration and interoperability.
- FHIR Architectural Design:
- Lead the design and development of FHIR-based APIs and services to enable data exchange between disparate healthcare systems.
- Define and document the FHIR architecture, including data models, resource profiles, and API specifications, leveraging FHIR R4+ standards.
- Ensure adherence to FHIR standards and best practices.
- Integration and Interoperability:
- Have design and implement integrations with HL7 v2 and HL7 v3 systems, including message mapping, transformation, and validation.
- Develop and maintain integration interfaces using various protocols (e.g., REST, SOAP, HL7 and FHIR).
- Collaborate with EHR vendors to understand their systems and API capabilities.

- Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues related to FHIR and HL7
- Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams.
- Stay up to date with the latest FHIR standards and industry trends.
- Conduct technical assessments and evaluations.
- Security and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH) and security standards.
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive patient data.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including clinical, technical, and business stakeholders.
- Work closely with the enterprise architecture team, maintaining software architecture standards.
- Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivelant experience.
Required Work Experience:
- FHIR: Deep understanding of FHIR standards, including resource definitions, profiles, operations, and the latest versions.
- HL7: Strong knowledge of HL7 v2 and HL7 v3 standards, message types, and protocols.
- API Development: Experience with RESTful API design and development, including API management tools.
- Integration Technologies: Proficiency in integration technologies such as HL7, FHIR, and other healthcare standards.
- Programming Languages: Strong programming skills in languages like Java, Python, or similar.
- Database Technologies: Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
- Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Healthcare IT: Understanding of healthcare IT systems, including EHRs, EMRs, and HIEs.
- Security and Compliance: Knowledge of healthcare security standards and regulations.
Preferred Work Experience:
- EHR Vendor Experience: Experience working with major EHR vendors (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech).
- Interoperability Frameworks: Experience with interoperability frameworks like SMART on FHIR and HL7 FHIR.
- Data Modeling: Strong data modeling skills.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Experience with testing methodologies and tools.
- Laboratory Information Systems (LIS): Experience integrating with LIS systems and understanding laboratory data standards (e.g., LOINC, SNOMED CT).
