Release Train Engineer
The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach responsible for facilitating Agile Release Train (ART) processes and execution, improving the flow of value, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. The RTE supports Agile teams, coordinates with stakeholders, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead the Agile cadence activities within the SAFe 6.0 (Scaled Agile Framework), ensuring participation from team members and key stakeholders.
- Lead multiple functional Agile application development teams from backlog grooming and planning activities through development, testing, and release deployment with responsibility for all aspects of a teams’ efficiency.
- Manage and optimize the flow of value through the “team of teams”.
- Establish and communicate common cadence calendar.
- Establish common reporting, metrics, and work management tools (Jira) across teams.
- Facilitate PI Planning readiness and execution.
- Assist in tracking the execution of features across teams.
- Facilitate scaling meetings (scrum of scrum, product owner sync, overall retrospectives, solution demo’s)
- Help manage risks and dependencies; escalate and track impediments.
- Encourage collaboration between cross functional teams.
- Coach leaders, Agile Teams, Product Owners and Scrum Masters on Agile practices and philosophies.
- Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency.
- Maintain visual progress metrics indicating velocity, burn-down, etc. at ART level.
- Run retrospectives and drive the teams to implement the process improvements identified during those meetings.
- Provide all support to the teams using a leadership style whenever possible.
- Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Scrum, Kanban, and (SAFe) 6.0.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts and insights in a clear and actionable manner to team members and stakeholders.
- Proven track record of leading multiple Agile teams responsible for delivering large, enterprise-wide deliveries following SAFe.
- 7 years of experience in Agile Methodologies
- At least three years in a Scrum Master role.
- 5 years of project management or software development management experience.
- Knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.
- Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
