Pay Range: $115,000 - $140,000 / year

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

The Privacy Manager, Billing, will provide privacy compliance advice and support on all aspects of U.S. federal and state privacy laws and regulations, with a specialized focus on privacy considerations relating to billing.  Knowledge of HIPAA/HITECH is required. The role requires independent analysis and resolution of billing privacy incidents and professional interaction with patients, clients, and regulators. The role will also be responsible for developing and delivering billing privacy training to internal stakeholders and will proactively drive continuous improvement initiatives in the billing privacy space. The ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across functions is essential to this role.  




Responsibilities:
  • Independently investigate, analyze, and address billing privacy incidents, including root cause identification, remediation, HIPAA and/or state law risk assessments, and notifications to individuals and regulators in compliance with applicable privacy laws.
  • Work collaboratively with the privacy and compliance teams to address day-to-day occurrences and incidents.
  • Serve as the primary contact for patients and clients regarding billing privacy concerns/complaints.
  • Manage the process of responding to individual rights requests pertaining to billing information, ensuring compliance with regulatory timelines.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional business, compliance, and legal teams to ensure alignment between privacy laws and regulations and business imperatives, developing practical solutions related to billing.
  • Perform trend analysis, develop relevant training, and implement solutions.
  • Provide periodic reporting of incidents, breaches, resolutions, and trends to relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of new privacy requirements and assess their impact on existing operations, particularly billing; modify policies and procedures accordingly and collaborate with business teams to promote alignment. 
  • Provide guidance on operationalizing business requirements in compliance with all applicable privacy laws. 
  • Assist in Privacy Office and Compliance Department with initiatives, projects, and other assignments as needed.



Qualifications:

Required Work Experience:  

  • 7+ years in the healthcare industry with a background in HIPAA privacy and security issues and billing
  • 5+ years addressing compliance regulations, state privacy laws and regulations, or other legal matters
  • Experience with design, implementation, and maintenance of privacy compliance policies, procedures and programs
  • Demonstrated ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical and actionable elements while supporting business strategy
  • Experience providing guidance on the effective development and implementation of privacy controls
