Director of Business Transformation - Operations
Job Description
This role will be responsible for leading Lean transformation by developing and deploying Lean Business System standards and methods across the organization while improving operational performance.
This role will drive operational process rigor and performance in Labs, Logistics, Patient Service Centers across all regions while working closely with cross-functional teams develop actionable roadmaps to increase efficiency across operational business processes and sub-processes.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in operations from various industries while applying lean manufacturing and change management methods to transform the organization as an engaging continuous improvement culture.
This position may work hybrid from any of the following Quest locations: Boston, Tampa, Houston, Texas, Chantilly, VA, San Juan Capistrano, CA, Las Vegas, Lenexa, KS, West Hills, CA. Travel up to 50%.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and sustainability of a Lean Business System that is process based with data-analytics and defined DMS operating mechanisms.
- Engage with senior operational leadership and teams to adopt Lean Business System standards while identify process improvements with actionable roadmaps to improve business performance focused on productivity and margin expansion.
- Leads a portfolio of complex strategic projects/Kaizen event thru all stages of charter, prework, implementation, and post-event sustainment.
- Drive cultural transformation by promoting problem solving and empowering employee ownership of their roles in continuous improvement.
- Lead and/or coach teams in problem solving techniques (PSP, A3, PDCA, 8-D, DIVE) to develop a sustaining culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead, coach, facilitate, teams in Customer VOC based Value Stream Map activities to improve business value applying Lean toolkit of: standard work, visual management, DMS, 5S, SMED, kanban, mistake proofing, TPM, etc.
- Support new site starts and site expansions with guidance on operational processes, leveraging 3P/Design for Manufacturability principles.
- Provide and facilitate effective professional level training on Lean Methodology concepts using Adult learning principles.
- Facilitates teams to generate creative low cost solutions using Lean tools: 7-Ways, Process-at-a-Glance, etc.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as well as internal standards for safety, quality, and environmental sustainability.
Qualifications:
Required Work Experience:
- 10+ years of operational leadership directly applying Lean methodologies.
- Experience designing & leading a Lean Business System in a well-established continuous improvement organization.
- Successfully managed multi-million dollar budgets.
Preferred Work Experience:
- Direct experience working with Toyota Production System, Danaher Business System, Shingijutsu Kaizen
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to visit and interact on with office employees and work teams directly at Lab sites, logistic hubs, and patient service centers.
Technical /Job Specific Knowledge:
- Deep knowledge & experience applying Lean methodologies in various operational environments and provides real operational Lean examples from industry.
- Demonstrates Lean leadership at leading multiple Kaizen events to achieve operational results.
- Lean Six-Sigma Blackbelt certification, Shingijutsu Kaizen or equivalent.
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal skills, results oriented, and collaborative.
- Ability to diagnose current business processes, then articulate and ideal target condition, using Lean/Kata coaching methods.
- Prior successful experience applying continuous flow using principles of Takt time, standard work, and single piece flow.
- Ability to accurately assess business performance from a general managers perspective and provide insights for improvement.
- Prioritize and self-manage multiple projects.
- Exceptional communication skills with multiple levels of the organization.
- Plans and leads communication planning and change management methods.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or technical field; Masters Degree beneficial
