Job Description


Healthcare Analytics Solutions (HAS) is an innovative team within Quest Diagnostics that leverages Quest data to develop products and services to improve outcomes in healthcare across many different markets (Pharma, Clinical Trials, Health Plans/Payors, Hospitals/Health Systems, and Public Health agencies). 

This role will focus on leading the product portfolio strategy and execution within the Healthcare Analytics Solutions Payer Solutions portfolio. The Portfolio Product Director is responsible for shaping product vision, driving market growth, and building strategic partnerships across payers and external stakeholders. The Director will leverage and translate market intelligence and customer needs into differentiated data and analytics offerings. They will render defined and undefined needs into development initiatives and then partner with Product Management, Marketing and Sales to successfully introduce differentiated products to the Payer market to unlock insights, improve outcomes, and realize business value.

Cross-functional business influence, prioritization negotiations and alignment, communication and transformational leadership are vital to success in this role. Portfolio Product Directors must be subject matter experts on their respective domain.

The Portfolio Product Director leads a portfolio of healthcare IT products and services purpose-built for payer organizations, spanning analytics, member insights, regulatory compliance (HEDIS, STARS, CMS) and quality measures. Combines market intelligence, regulatory awareness, and customer feedback to shape multi-year product roadmaps. Partners cross-functionally with development, clinical, and commercial teams to deliver innovative solutions that drive payer adoption, retention, and contract expansion.

Pay Range: $180,000 - $200,000 / year

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities:

Strategic vision and market insight

  • Develop portfolio strategy: Define and articulate the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for the entire product portfolio. This includes identifying opportunities for growth, expansion, and differentiation based on market trends.
  • Keeps awareness of market factors including competitor products, consumer demand, and new trends, and shares this information regularly with the team and our stakeholders.
  • Conduct market research: Perform in-depth market analysis, competitive research, and customer segmentation including an understanding of including competitor products, consumer demand and new trends to identify unmet needs, emerging opportunities, and potential risks. 
  • Analyze competitive landscape: Continuously monitor competitor strategies, product offerings, and pricing models to identify market positioning opportunities and guide strategic prioritization.
  • Leverage a customer first mindset: Responsible for developing, identifying and maintaining a clear definition and understanding of "the customer," to ensure that products remain customer centric and meet customer needs.
  • Build strategic partnerships: Establish and manage partnerships with complementary businesses or industry influences to expand market reach and drive mutual growth. 
  • Prioritize investments: Use data-driven business cases and financial modeling to prioritize investments across the portfolio. The goal is to maximize the overall return on investment (ROI) and align with the organizational vision
  • Ensure regulatory compliance: Work closely with regulatory and legal teams to ensure all products comply with healthcare standards like HIPAA, FDA, and GDPR, building these requirements into the product roadmap.

Portfolio and product lifecycle management

  • Develop and own the portfolio roadmap: Build and guide an 18-36 month view of the product roadmaps for all products within the portfolio, ensuring they align with the overarching strategy.
  • Oversee the full product lifecycle: Manage the entire lifecycle of products, from initial concept and design to launch, growth, and eventual retirement leveraging the key idea to market operational framework for the organization. 
  • Manage third-party integrations: Determine and lead efforts towards integrated third-party solutions or partnerships that enhance the core product portfolio.
  • Optimize portfolio performance: Monitor product performance metrics—including profitability, market share, and customer engagement—to make data-driven decisions on where to invest, pivot, or divest.
  • Guide product positioning: Work with marketing and product teams to define the product positioning, value proposition, and messaging for the Payer market. 
  • Support commercialization: Work directly with product management, sales, marketing and other commercialization teams to support product launches and develop effective go-to-market strategies.

Cross-functional leadership and communication

  • Act as the "face of the product": Represent the portfolio in client conversations, partner engagements, and at industry conferences to reinforce the company's market position
  • Collaborate with internal teams: Act as a key liaison between various departments, including innovation, development, sales, marketing, and medical affairs. The director aligns these teams around the product vision to ensure seamless execution.
  • Engage key thought leaders: Build and nurture relationships with external industry experts, clinicians, and key customers. Gather feedback to inform the portfolio strategy and champion customer-centric innovation.
  • Present to senior leadership: Report on the portfolio's performance and present strategic recommendations to executive leadership to secure buy-in and resource investment.
  • Support product management: Oversee and support product managers, guiding ensuring alignment with the broader portfolio strategy. 
  • Build a Community of Practice: Participate in and grow Product Management Community of Practice



Qualifications:

Required WorkExperience:

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in related area of Science, Mathematics, Business, Economics, or Information Technology

  • Demonstrated experience of healthcare content or related technical, data analytics, informatics, software and/or IT products

  • Minimum of 8-12 years of Product Management experience to support software development 

  • Experience reading market intelligence reports and synthesizing content to develop a portfolio roadmap with focus on prioritized products

  • Experience differentiating and defining a customer vs a market issue and partnering with the product and marketing teams to develop effective solutions to address

  • Demonstrated ability to draw relationship between products, strategize and build a value-based roadmap for that portfolio

  • Demonstrated experience working closely with business leaders to align on business expectations, value creation and related activities

  • Experience managing portfolios of multiple health care products through full life cycle.

  • Demonstrated experience in vendor selection & relationship management in the healthcare and/or data analytics space

  • Demonstrated success in managing big portfolios with multiple products and related  life cycle of a products 

  • Experience presenting complex products to multiple stakeholders

  • Experience working with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies

  • Alignment skills to bring critical stakeholders together with a common understanding of strategy, execution plan, and priority

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize and leverage basic business tools such as Rally, Jira, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, SalesForce.com and the like
