Job Summary:
The Project Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing and managing the execution of clinical trial projects including managing the scope, budget and timeline of assigned projects. This individual oversees and manages domestic, regional and/or international projects. Responsibilities typically include developing and managing project teams, communications, risk, scope, schedule, cost, quality, and stakeholders, effectively ensuring that variance from plan is proactively and effectively mitigated and client expectations are met. 
Their role is to understand customer requirements and partner with the laboratory teams (lab, QA, etc.) to ensure that the requirements are met.  This position may also have direct line management responsibility of junior level project management team members.  They will have indirect management responsibility of team members on cross functional teams that are supporting clinical trials projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as key client contact for assigned projects, establishing working relationships with client project teams which result in client satisfaction, operational excellence and thereby increase potential for repeat business.
May participate in or support the preparation of proposals for prospective clients to ensure operational requirements are considered completely and included within the budget.
Monitor project scope, schedule and costs to ensure all remain on track with the contract and with financial performance targets.
Initiate and implement appropriate actions to proactively manage the change control process both internally and externally.
Coordinate with study directors/principal investigators/test facility management as the scientific leaders for the project.
Coordinate with Director, Business Development throughout the life of the project to ensure scope, timeline and budget are well understood and also understand escalation path for communicating issues.
Ensure that all staff allocated to assigned project(s) adheres to professional standards and SOPs, providing performance feedback to team member’s respective supervisors.
Identify, track and manage risks that may impact our ability to successfully complete the scope of the project in the timeline or budget available.
Serve as escalation point for project issues to internal and external stakeholders, as appropriate
Identify new or out of scope requests from customer and communicate with Director, BD so contract modifications can be implemented.
Conduct project closure meetings with both internal and external teams to ensure lessons learned are captured.
Maintain official project records from inception to completion including archiving.
Ensure that contracted work is conducted within regulatory requirements (FDA, CAP/CLIA, ICH-GCP Guidelines).
Develop overall project plan and maintain regular touch points to ensure that timelines are being met.
Communicate with customer on regular operational items (project updates, scope alignment).

Demonstrated ability to inspire effective teamwork and motivate staff within a matrix system.
Ability to negotiate and liaise with clients in a professional manner.
Ability to present to staff at all levels.

Experience and Education: 
Bachelor’s degree plus 5 to 8 years of healthcare experience or equivalent education and experience.
3 years of previous project management experience working as a Project Manager within a CRO (preferred), Biotech or Pharma.
3 year of previous laboratory experience preferred.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment.
Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing.
Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving.

Other Requirements:
Travel (0 – 10%) Occasional travel required to meet with customers or attend trade shows or conferences.
