Position Description:

The Business Process Innovation (BPI) team applies program management expertise to drive focus on enterprise-wide business process improvements that generate revenue and drive margin improvements. Through close partnership with business leaders and stakeholders, team members advise, guide and support leaders in discovering innovative ways to improve their operations.

Team members lead one or more large cross functional work-streams across the business with responsibilities that include identifying major opportunities, motivating the team, initiating challenging discussions to remove roadblocks, facilitating alignment and driving achievement of business results. BPI team members have key leadership roles and are responsible for the overall project health of their work-stream. 

Key Accountabilities include:

•Organize, plan and lead Kaizen and Value Stream Mapping events to recognize process flow improvement opportunities

•Drive innovative thinking and motivate others to identify new ideas for pipeline

•Design and operationalize a work-stream charter, clearly outlining the span of the initiative from brainstorming through to execution

•Achieve financial targets and other project milestones in partnership with work stream leads

•Drive accountability for realization of cost savings and other business performance metrics, ensuring success of programs

•Leveraging the Program Office, track and manage project performance, ensuring projects are on-time and on-budget

•Lead efficient meetings and ensure goals and objectives are kept in sight

•Communicate achievements, issues and risks to senior leaders and key stakeholders

•Communicate to teams, peers and senior management the compelling case for change and roadmap to success

•Plan, organize and ensure readiness for formal Steering Committee meetings where applicable

•Serve as a liaison between functional operational groups and support functions (Finance, IT, etc.)

•Drive change through key stakeholders and facilitate alignment across regions and functional groups to remove roadblocks

•Travel up to 30%

Supervision Exercised:

This position will have several indirect reports, which could include Quest Diagnostics personnel and external consultants. Individuals in this role are expected to influence large-scale change across multiple stakeholder groups, influencing and driving accountability without solid-line people reporting authority. 


The successful candidate for Director, Business Process Innovation will have the following attributes and/or experiences:

•BS/ BA degree (Masters/MBA is a plus)

•10+ years’ experience (diagnostics industry or related experience preferred) with demonstrated track record of successful business outcomes, including experience leading change, superior leadership and communication skills, excellent business and financial acumen.

•The ideal candidate possesses process improvement orientation, is knowledgeable of industry trends and maintains a focus on external customers.

•Project Management certification or equivalent with demonstrated skills in the following:

§  MS Project with a keen understanding of linkages and dependencies

§  Excel /Word /PowerPoint

§  Access database
