Tax Accountant II (Remote, nearsite to Norristown, PA)
Job Description
Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Tax Accountant II to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our tax operations while enjoying a flexible work environment. The ideal candidate will be within a 2.5-3 hour radius of our Norristown, PA office for occasional in-person meetings.
As a Tax Accountant II, you will play a vital role in our tax department with the following:
Main responsibilities will be sales & use tax and personal property tax compliance for assigned jurisdictions.
Filing returns, making payments, performing monthly account reconciliation and audit for all transactional taxes.
Assist in researching exemptions and developing tax positions.
Drive process improvement.
Responsibilities:
Maintaining Departmental Control Charts for his/her jurisdictions.
Staying current on transactional tax law changes and regulations.
Interfacing and participating on projects with Senior Indirect Tax Management.
Supporting Tax Manager on ad hoc projects.
Developing and analyzing data.
Preparing monthly journal entries to reverse and accrue for proper taxation as well as allocating entries to accrue use tax to correct jurisdictions and legal entities.
Making and developing improvement strategies for transactional tax processes.
Active participant on assigned Innovation Projects.
Ensuring accurate, timely analysis of reconciliations including Blackline.
Maintaining effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
Providing support with various internal audits and special tax related projects.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Equivalent Experience.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred.
Required Work Experience:
At least a year of prior Sales & Use tax experience in a multi-entity, multi-state organization.
Public accounting background is a plus.
Knowledge:
PC fluency with Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel, Access, Vertex Tax Software, and ERP systems as well as the ability to manage large data sets in Excel and Access.
Skills:
Ability to multi-task with a high level of accuracy.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
Interpersonal skills to work with various associates, third parties and outside departments.
