Job Description


Looking for candidates in a commutable distance from Norristown, PA. This role is Near-Site, which means there is the occasional In-Office requirement. 

The individual in this position is responsible for managing the company’s fixed asset accounting function to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and corporate policies. This role oversees a team of 5–10 professionals responsible for all aspects of fixed asset accounting and capital project tracking. The Asset Management Manager plays a key leadership role in driving process improvements, enhancing internal controls, and ensuring the timely and accurate recording of all asset-related transactions. This individual also partners closely with other functions and internal and external auditors to maintain strong governance and support the company’s strategic growth initiatives.




Responsibilities:

•  Lead, develop, and manage a team of 5–10 fixed asset accounting professionals, setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

•  Oversee and manage all transactions within the fixed asset system, including additions, adjustments, retirements, and transfers, ensuring proper accounting treatment, internal controls, and documentation are in place.

•  Manage the capital expenditure (CapEx) process, ensuring all capital requests are properly logged, controlled, approved, and compliant with corporate policies.

•  Establish and maintain procedures for accumulating invoices by CapEx project, ensuring proper filing and record retention for open and completed projects.

•  Monitor capital spending to ensure approved spending limits are not exceeded and that expenditures are charged to the correct projects in accordance with approved budgets and capitalization guidelines.

•  Lead the compilation, analysis, and review of capital expenditure information to ensure timely capitalization in accordance with GAAP.

•  Partner with business units, operations, and finance teams to facilitate accurate and timely processing of capital expenditure requests and payments.

•  Oversee the preparation and review of reconciliations of fixed asset balance sheet accounts, ensuring timely preparation and follow through on any variances.

•  Ensure all monthly and quarterly fixed asset and capital project reporting is prepared accurately and on time to support corporate financial reporting requirements and provide business partners with clear, actionable information for tracking and managing their projects. 

•  Coordinate audit support for fixed assets, including internal, external, and SOX audits, ensuring accurate and complete information is provided.

•  Supervise the tracking and resolution of inquiries and requests from business units related to fixed assets and capital projects.

•  Review and approve monthly analyses of capital projects for capitalization of interest in accordance with SFAS No. 34.

•  Provide guidance, training, and support to field financial personnel to ensure consistent application of capitalization policies and procedures.

•  Regularly evaluate existing processes and internal controls related to fixed asset accounting, identifying opportunities to streamline, strengthen governance, and improve efficiency.

•  Lead initiatives to implement process enhancements and system improvements, working closely with IT and Finance to ensure sustainable solutions.

•  Champion best practices in asset management and ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and company policies.




Qualifications:

Education:

•  Bachelor’s degree required. A concentration in Accounting or Finance is preferred; however, equivalent professional accounting experience may be accepted in place of this concentration.

•  Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.

•  Advanced degree or additional certifications (e.g., CMA) a plus.

Work Experience:

•  Minimum of 5–7 years of accounting experience, including significant exposure to fixed asset accounting.

•  Prior experience managing a fixed asset or capital accounting team of at least 5 people strongly preferred.

•  Experience leading process improvement or system enhancement initiatives within an accounting function.

•  Experience in a corporate accounting environment, preferably with a publicly traded company.

Knowledge:

•  In-depth knowledge of GAAP related to fixed assets and capital expenditures.

•  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, advanced functions).

•  Experience with PeopleSoft Asset Management and General Ledger, and Hyperion Essbase preferred.

•  Proven track record of improving accounting processes and strengthening internal controls.

•  Strategic mindset with the ability to drive change and implement best practices.
