The Institute for Dermatopathology is a laboratory exclusively focused on providing exceptional Dermatopathology services to its referring physicians and patients. We strive to and flourish with the ideals of a boutique-style practice, aiming to uphold and value quality diagnostics and professional and personal interactions with our clinicians while being part of the larger network of Dermpath Diagnostics with an unrivaled team of over 70 board-certified Dermatopathologists and an array of advanced diagnostic technologies provided by Quest Diagnostics. This practice was founded in the academic settings of Jefferson and Hahneman Universities and to this day we are a small group of dermatopathologists that work closely with one another based primarily on the teachings of A.B. Ackerman, MD.

Our mission is to provide accurate, clear and prompt diagnoses. We also strive to develop confident and strong relationships with our referring clinicians and are fully committed to assisting in providing the best care for every patient.

We are currently seeking a board-certified Dermatopathologist(s) to join our group in Newtown Square, PA. This key position will offer the practice of full-time Dermatopathology in a supportive, congenial atmosphere with experienced Dermatopathologists where being a team-player is imperative.


  • Provide accurate and timely diagnosis of the presence and stage of disease from a tissue specimen, utilizing appropriate laboratory procedures. Confers with other physicians as needed. 
  • Be familiar with and able to recommend clinically appropriate advanced diagnostic testing such as molecular and genetic studies. 
  • Assigns the appropriate Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and the appropriate ICD-9 codes for the service(s) provided and the diagnosis rendered, following authoritative coding guidelines and Company coding policies. 
  • Takes the initiative to improve quality in the workplace.  Participates in and coordinates activities of QC/QA/QI to ensure quality care and evaluates the effectiveness of quality assurance policies and procedures to enhance standards and excellence of service in the laboratory and Company. 
  • Actively builds upon education and experience through Continuing Medical Education (CME) to maintain licensure/credentials. 
  • Manages medical, associate, and financial resources wisely.  Provides others with the support necessary to successfully accomplish daily activities while monitoring and controlling costs. 
  • Provides advice to referring physicians regarding the clinical significance of laboratory findings 
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information concerning patients, physicians, employees, clients, vendors, and the Company. 
  • Provide educational services, conferences, and instruction where required. 
  • Complies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as Company rules, polices, and procedural manuals. 

  • Dermatopathologist with 1 to 3 years of experience preferred
  • Strong client focus and ability to communicate with confidence
  • Understanding of laboratory operations

EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS

  • Required: Medical Degree
  • Required: Board certified in Dermatopathology
  • Desired: Current valid unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Pennsylvania or eligible to obtain licensure
