Intern focus on blood cancer that forms in white blood cells that are inside the bone marrow like Multiple myelomas, Plasma cell dyscresia’s. Plasma cell dyscrasias (PCDs) are a spectrum of disorders characterized by the expansion of a population of monoclonal bone-marrow plasma cells that produce monoclonal immunoglobulins. The intern learns how various technologies like Serum Protein Electrophoresis, Immunotyping, Immunofixation and Free Light chain assay to detect various monoclonal gammopathies. Also they will learn interpretations of these chromatograms and participate in a project to evaluate various types monoclonal bands and its prevalence in the population.
Toxicology
Gabapentin is commonly used to treat and prevent seizures in people with epilepsy or to treat nerve pain that can occur after a shingles virus infection. Gabapentin is used off-label use for many conditions like fibromyalgia, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, resistant depressants, mood disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, alcohol withdrawal, postoperative analgesia, migraine prophylaxis, interstitial cystitis, painful diabetic neuropathy, social phobia, generalized tonic-clonic seizures, pruritus, insomnia, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and refractory chronic cough and postmenopausal vasomotor symptoms. Despite its legitimate uses, Gabapentin can also be misused. Our earlier studies indicated that misuse of opiates in patients whoa are being treated with Gabapentin.
