The Executive Director for Diagnostics Products Sourcing, is the strategic sourcing leader managing a team of procurement professionals focused on Advanced and General Diagnostics testing portfolios. This individual is responsible for leveraging an annual spend valued at over $1.7B across a supply base of more than 500+ supplier partners.   This role requires deep external and internal stakeholder engagements in support of, and in alignment with the company's future business needs.


  • Define and develop sourcing strategy for each category in the Advanced and General Diagnostics Portfolios
  • Establish objectives for the spend categories along with developing the strategy for the short term and long-term sourcing plans.
  • Partner with all key internal stakeholders such as Laboratory operations, R&D, Medical Quality and Franchise, in sourcing strategy development and execution.
  • Deliver on financial targets, savings, margin improvements, and adequate return on investments, through successful execution of category strategies.
  • Participate/lead key supplier negotiations as required.
  • Assure compliance with Quest Diagnostics internal procurement policy and governance requirements.
  • Manage and cultivate key supplier strategic relationships and assure performance expectations are met.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing team. Provide coaching, feedback, guidance, development, training, and opportunities to continually enhance performance and engagement of individuals and the overall team.
  • Communicate routinely with other Portfolio Leaders to ensure “best practice” assimilation, process consistency, knowledge transfer, etc.
  • Support new business acquisition due diligence efforts and onboarding activities.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business or related field required
  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in business management (procurement, supply chain management, operational, or management consulting)
  • Minimum 6 years and high level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (strategic sourcing, negotiating, and category management)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience directly leading people and teams.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry preferred.
  • Track record of consistent career and leadership progression, taking on increasing levels of responsibility and delivering high quality results
  • Executive presence. Ability to engage both internal and external supplier executive leadership
  • Effective negotiator with strong track record of driving maximum financial and operational results.
  • Excellent relationship management skills both internal and external. Ability to interact with customers and clients at executive level.
  • Strong influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to confidently present complex information
  • Adept in managing ambiguity.
  • Results oriented, metrics driven leader with a root cause, permanent fix approach, continuous improvement approach.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and unquestioned integrity and trust.
