This position is a key member of the National Transformation team, driving an end-to-end simplification of business operations to impact performance measures, identify and lead cross-functional system opportunities for profitable growth, and influence problem solving culture leveraging continuous Improvement tools focused on Lean, system thinking, and big data analytics techniques (adopting AI). Additionally, this role requires operational experience in business financials, functions, and demonstrated ability to collaboratively work across multiple functions to lead change management.  This role will develop national and regional teams that are responsible for driving business performance, apply lean toolset within the laboratory operating functions, project management of the business transformation projects and leading / implementing appropriate operating cadence for the business. 


  • Owns the application and adoption of lean principles with business partners across large portions of the enterprise with the goal of building localized self-sufficiency, sustainability, and scalability of improvement efforts. 
  • Champions and drives lean/kaizen projects using big data analytics tools to tackle system level problems. 
  • Cultural change shift from dashboards and analytics towards actions and results. 
  • Owns a portfolio of initiatives (i) strategic business transformation projects, and (ii)operational execution that result in large-scale improvement across designated functions and businesses. 
  • Drives breakthrough thinking with the use of Hoshin or Strategy Deployment methodologies 
  • Captures, quantifies, and reapplies best-in-class practices between laboratories, businesses, and regions. 
  • Acts as a change agent to guide teams toward success. 
  • Leads efforts to implement Process Control and Management and Standardized Work(process definition, documentation, ownership, metrics, and monitoring systems) 
  • Works with functional and site leaders as a “thought leader” to create future state improvement roadmaps with clear executable plans that are in line with the business strategies and improvement needs. 
  • Contributes to building a grass-roots culture of continuous improvement, data-based decisions and problem solving, system thinking, and cross-functional collaboration. 
  • Develops and facilitates training courses. 
  • Manages sponsor and stakeholder’s expectation: Actively communicates with project sponsors and stakeholders, including establishing regular points of communication. 


Required Work Experience: 

  • 10-15 years of direct responsibility of operational ownership of different aspects of a business, and Continuous Improvement experience, in areas of Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Organizational Leadership, or Healthcare 

Knowledge: 

  • Demonstrated expertise of lean and system (value stream) thinking through exposure and coaching from the Toyota Production System, Danaher Business System, Virginia Mason Production System, Honeywell Operating System or similarly mature and rigorous lean model.   
  • Demonstrated expertise in problem solving methodology: A3, PSP, PDCA 8D applied to project management.  
  • Demonstrates skills in applying continuous flow to achieve takt/customer pace in various operational business functions.
  • A strong track record of success leading and influencing at the senior leadership level without direct authority in driving change. 
  • Proven track record in facilitating cross functional discussions, targeted workshops, and Kaizens to achieve strategic & operational objectives. 
  • Bias for see/do/teach method for coaching.  Hands on approach to show organization “what good looks like”.  
  • Expert-level experience using robust, structured problem-solving and coaching for all levels of the organization.   
  • Experience managing geographically dispersed teams. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with others. 
  • Advanced data analysis skills. 
  • Financial and Business acumen, including cost center and P&L experience 
  • Ability to create & demonstrate change management strategies across the organization.
  • Working knowledge of Hoshin-Kanri (Policy Deployment) principles and practices, with a track record of fostering senior leadership through this process.  
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across multiple formats: formal presentations, training material development, meetings, conference calls, e-mails, and memos. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
