Facilities Engineering Manager - Irving, TX - Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM

The Manager, Facilities Engineering reports to the Regional Director, EHS and Facilities. Incumbent will be responsible for oversight and management of facility infrastructure and building systems. Role requires both self-performance of work tasks (hands on) and management of staff and vendors who perform engineering, electrical, HVAC, pluming repairs, and maintenance duties in support of the facility. Role also includes responsibility for designing and optimizing facility layout and critical operational systems, regulatory (building) permitting, work order management, budget tracking, and equipment selection/procurement.

Pay Range: $103,600.00+ per year


Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Facility Maintenance and Repairs
    • Ensures facilities and grounds are maintained in accordance with relevant regulations,
    agency standards, and fiscal consideration.
    • Coordinates completion of routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks for all
    building systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems: chilled and
    hot water distribution systems; steam boiler; air compressor and distribution system; waste
    collection and treatment; clean utility- pre-treatment, purified water, water for injection, and
    technical gases; electrical genset, switchboards and power distribution; cleanrooms; etc.
    • Operates Facility Work Order System and ensures prompt response to building
    maintenance requests. Troubleshoots issues and coordinates repairs to ensure
    uninterrupted operation of critical infrastructure.
    • Maintains accurate records/logs of maintenance activities, equipment status, and repairs
    history. Transfers paper copies of building drawing/maps to digital platform.
    • Monitors energy consumption and implements energy-saving initiatives, upgrades or
    retrofits to promote sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
    • Shares in on-call rotation and promptly responds to emergency situations such as power
    outages, equipment failure, or plumbing issues. Coordinates with contractor and external
    service providers during emergency situations as needed to minimize business disruptions.

  2. Compliance and Safety
    • Participates in the development of policies and procedures related to maintenance and
    safety.
    • Ensures that all building systems and equipment meet safety, health, and environmental
    regulations, including compliance with local, state, and federal codes.

    • Assists EHS with performance of routine building safety inspections to identify potential
    hazards and take appropriate measures to mitigate risks and maintain a safe environment.
    • Ensures staff completion of OSHA and company required safety training such as Log Out
    Tag Out, Confined Space, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety, etc.

  3. Equipment Procurement and Budgeting
    • Assists in preparing and managing budget for the building engineering department,
    including equipment purchase, maintenance contracts, and other operations expenses.
    • Collaborates with procurement teams to assess equipment needs, research options, and
    make recommendations for equipment purchases or upgrades to improve production
    efficiency and/or cost reduction procedures.

  4. Project Management
    • Writes project specifications, requests for proposals, change modifications and Capex.
    • Provides support in securing approval of required local permits/licenses for engineering
    projects.
    • Participates in the design, automation, and validation of relevant systems.

  5. Vendor Management
    • Selects vendors/contractors to execute work after detailed contractor evaluation.
    • Provides oversight for third party vendors engaged in maintenance, electrical, and
    mechanical operations.

Required Work Experience:
Seven plus years of specific plant/facilities engineering experience, including HVAC equipment,
electrical systems, and project management

Preferred Work Experience:
Ten plus years of plant/facilities engineering experience, including HVAC equipment, electrical systems,
and project management

Physical and Mental Requirements:
• Standing for extended periods of time
• Climbing ladders
• Moving safely over uneven terrain, in confined spaces, and on rooftops
• Carrying/lifting up to 50 pounds regularly
• Hearing and responding quickly to sounds
• Seeing and responding to dangerous situations
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle

Knowledge:
• Familiarity with building construction and engineering principles related to civil, mechanical,
electrical, structural projects:
o ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA standards
o IMC, IPC, and IBC codes
o Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) or Green Globes accreditation
• Expertise in water systems and environmental temperature and humidity monitoring for regulated
processes preferred
• Knowledge of building and Fire/Life/Safety Codes is desirable
• Advanced in Microsoft Excel
• Skilled in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
• Comfortable with Microsoft Project
• Basic knowledge of CAD tools such as AutoCAD

Skills:
• Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate work with all levels of the organization
• Effective written and verbal communication skills across multiple formats: formal presentations,
meetings, conference calls, e-mails, and memos
• Ability to manage outside contractors and consultants
• Ability to remain composed under pressure
• Flexibility and agility to modify work schedule based on facility needs, including weekends,
holidays, and on-call

People Leader Responsibility:
• May supervise a team of staff
• Provides indirect oversight of contractors and consultants

Work Environment:
• Exposure to extreme cold or heat – refrigerator units and inclement weather
• Routinely exposed to potentially unpleasant odors
• Personal protective gear required in emergency situations

Travel Required:
Domestic: 10 – 30%
