JOB SUMMARY:

To describe the responsibilities of the forensic processor group lead within the Forensic Drug Testing Laboratory. This position reports to the Supervisor, Forensic Processing and is responsible for assisting the supervisor with production, staff management and compliance issues within the Forensic Toxicology Processing Department. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Capable of processing all types of specimens independently.
  • Understands and adheres to strict forensic practices.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures.
  • Proficient with scanning/imaging all custody and control forms.
  • Capable of performing Flexilog at >90 CCF’s per hour for routine urine specimens.
  • Understands the process for manually preparing specimens for aliquotting and confirmation testing.
  • Understands the testing performed at the location and re-routes specimens received in error.
  • Has an advanced knowledge of the QTN Lab Information System and trains new personnel.
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking between different processing workstations for all specimen and/or test matrices and demonstrates proficiency with each.
  • Capable of monitoring special handling like Rejects, NOTEST, TIQ & Inactive Accounts.
  • Independently operates, troubleshoots, and performs preventative maintenance on the CV 1000 specimen aliquotter.
  • Organizes workflow for CV operation, maintenance and troubleshooting for the specimen aliquotters. Often provides training to new personnel.
  • Proficient and knowledgeable with researching client numbers and test code issues during the production shift.
  • Works closely in conjunction with the department supervisor to manage workflow and support the production goals of the department.
  • Provide work direction to employees to facilitate completion of workload.
  • Proficient with all aspects of specimen processing for those specimen types accommodated by the location. 
  • Understands specimen requirements for testing and resolves inquiries relative to sample size available for testing.
  • Provides input to the department supervisor regarding annual development planning for employees.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Forensic Processing Supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education Preferred:     

High School diploma or equivalent. Some college coursework preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in specimen processing preferred. 
  • Knowledge of SAMHSA regulations that pertain to specimen processing.
  • Practical expertise and experience in specimen processing flow and demonstrated proficiency in specimen processing tasks.
