Job Description


The Data Platform Manager is responsible for defining and executing the data platform roadmap to align with overall business objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs). This role sits at the intersection of business, technology, and analytics, and serves as the strategic voice for data, collaborating with technical and non-technical teams to deliver impactful data products and infrastructure.

The data platform incorporates both data generated by Quest operations as well as data from external partners and the platform manager will drive plans to ensure that the data is structured, standardized, and made available in a way that enables advanced analytics and product development for internal and customer-facing solutions. 

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with strong business acumen and a deep understanding of how data can drive organizational value. 




Responsibilities:

Data strategy and roadmap: Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the data platform in partnership with business leaders and technical teams. Prioritize initiatives based on business benefits, technical feasibility, and strategic importance.

Product management approach: Apply a product management mindset to data assets, treating them as valuable products with a defined lifecycle. Ensure data products are valuable, discoverable, and reusable for various internal teams.

Business engagement and alignment: Serve as the primary liaison between the data platform team and business stakeholders. Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements for data engineering, analytics, and data science teams.

Leverage technical expertise: Guide technical teams, including data engineers and data scientists, on how to deliver data solutions that meet business requirements. Leverage existing technical expertise across the organization rather than acting as the primary technical builder.

Drive data literacy and adoption: Promote a data-driven culture by educating non-technical stakeholders on the value and capabilities of the data platform. Champion adoption of data products and insights across the organization.

Data governance and quality: Collaborate with the data governance and IT security teams to establish and enforce data quality standards, governance practices, metadata management and compliance with regulations.

Data Scalability and Analytics Enablement: Drive a scalable strategy for ingesting, standardizing, and governing diverse data sources. Define and deliver semantic information layers what empower advanced analytics, agentic queries, ad AI driven product use cases

Performance and value measurement: Define and track key metrics (KPIs) to measure the success and business value of the data platform and its products. 




Qualifications:

Required WorkExperience: 

  • 5+ years of experience in data management, data platforms, or analytics technology, with demonstrated cross-functional leadership.
  • 5+ years of experience in product or platform management, including roadmap development, prioritization, user story creation, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Proven track record collaborating with engineering, analytics, compliance, and business teams to deliver data platform capabilities in a regulated environment.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).

Preferred Work Experience: 

  • Direct experience with healthcare or clinical data types (e.g., medical testing data, EHR, claims, payer, or provider data).
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration tools, and ingestion frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success presenting to and influencing senior leadership.
  • Background working in highly regulated industries such as life sciences, health tech, or insurance.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, GDPR preferred).

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of data engineering, architecture, and governance concepts.
  • Solid grasp of data platform capabilities: ingestion pipelines, quality monitoring, metadata management, governance, storage, and secure access.
  • Demonstrated understanding of product management principles and managing development efforts using industry standard tools (e.g., Jira).

  • Familiarity and comfort discussing concepts like data pipelines, data quality, governance, storage, and accessibility
  • An understanding of how a data platform enables use cases including analytics, reporting automation, machine learning, compliance and others
  • Strong understanding of data engineering, data architecture, and governance concepts.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate between clinical/business needs and technical solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound trade-offs in complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and build alignment across cross-functional teams, including IT, compliance, and clinical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to set long-term product vision while delivering incremental value.
  • Experience defining and tracking KPIs for platform adoption, data quality, compliance, and business impact.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Management, Information Systems, or related field.
