Systems Analyst - LIMS (Remote)
Haystack Oncology at Quest Diagnostics is seeking to expand its laboratory informatics team as we expand our assay portfolio and introduce cutting edge diagnostic technology to the public.
The Systems Analyst, LIMS will own responsibilities in requirements gathering, development and configuration, documentation, implementation, and end-user support of our enterprise Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This multi-discipline role will, in part, be a liaison between the LIMS team and stakeholders across the company which include laboratory operations, laboratory automation, bioinformatics, business development, and computer system validation to help effectively translate the laboratory’s physical workflows and technical requirements into a comprehensive, efficient LIMS system.
The ideal candidate will posses a solid understanding of clinical laboratory processes, administrative experience in a LIMS platform, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
This is a salaried position and weekend work may be required to satisfy project timelines and to support end-users. This position can work 100% remote and may require up to 10% travel as needed. Professional must be located in the US and is expected to be available during normal business hours in the Eastern and Central US time zones.
- Work extensively within our cloud based StarLIMS system to configure and develop frontend and backend solutions that further automate our scientific and technical processes.
- Gather and analyze requirements provided by cross functional stakeholders and translate into functional requirements that allow for the development of technical solutions.
- Modify and develop custom code using StarLIMS scripting languages and industry best practices.
- Develop scientific reports using StarLIMS QBE, SQL, and/or Crystal Reports.
- Manage workload in Jira and provide timely and accurate status updates on project-based issue tickets that are either assigned or self-assigned.
- Both individually and as a part of a team, troubleshoot, debug, and test technical solutions
- Provide ongoing support and training to laboratory staff and stakeholders on LIMS usage and best practices.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and any changes for reference and compliance purposes.
- Respectfully communicate in English both textually and verbally with stakeholders.
- Other duties, as assigned, that will contribute to the success of our company and the data systems we deploy.
- Bachelors' or greater degree in Computer Science or other STEM-related disciplines.
- 1-3 years of experience in the configuration and customization of an enterprise LIMS system is required. Experience with STARLIMS is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in the development of custom code using scripting and/or programming languages.
- 1-3 years of experience in SQL database management and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of system integration techniques such as APIs and middleware.
- Strong understanding of laboratory workflows, data management, and compliance standards.
- Experience with laboratory testing and scientific equipment.
- Experience developing custom reports using Crystal Reports or similar.
- Professional experience with a bug/issue tracking system.
- Understanding of software design controls and SDLC.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal direct supervision in a multiple discipline environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Proficient in diagnosing and providing solutions for bugs and issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written in English, with the ability to translate technical information for non-technical stakeholders.
- Certificates in IT related topics are a plus.
