Job Description


Pay Range: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 / year

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Quest Diagnostics is a leading clinical laboratory dedicated to providing innovative diagnostic information services. We are at the forefront of oncology diagnostics, leveraging advanced Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies to deliver life-changing insights. As we expand our offerings in Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) testing and early cancer detection, we are looking for a passionate Sr. Data Analyst to join our team.

The Sr.Data Analyst will play a critical role in unlocking the value of complex genomic, clinical, and operational data. This role will work cross-functionally alongside Laboratory and Clinical Operations, R&D, and Bioinformatics to drive data-informed decisions that support the scaling and optimization of our MRD assays. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, a deep understanding of laboratory data workflows, and a passion for improving patient outcomes through precision oncology.




Responsibilities:
  • Data-Driven Insights & Reporting: Analyze complex datasets related to MRD assay performance, laboratory turnaround times, and clinical validity. Design, build, and maintain automated dashboards to communicate key metrics to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the R&D and Product Development teams to provide analytical support for the design, validation, and commercialization of new early-detection oncology and MRD assays.
  • Bioinformatics & Pipeline Support: Work closely with Bioinformatics engineers to analyze pipeline outputs and support the strategic scaling of robust data pipelines.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Quality: Ensure all data management and reporting processes align with strict regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO, IEC). Support documentation and risk management efforts as part of a robust Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for our NGS systems.
  • Operational Excellence: Identify bottlenecks in laboratory workflows and propose data-backed solutions to improve testing efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.



Qualifications:

Required Work Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably within a clinical laboratory, biotech, academia or healthcare setting.

Preferred Work Experience:

  • Exposure to oncology diagnostics, NGS data, and/or MRD testing is highly preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with genomic data, bioinformatics workflows, and clinical assay validation.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks (FDA, CLIA, CAP, ISO) and software quality standards.
  • High proficiency in querying and manipulating large datasets using SQL.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or R for statistical analysis and data modeling.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Metabase).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, strategic business recommendations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with a proven track record of working effectively across scientific, technical, and business teams.

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid (3 days per week in office at the Haystack Baltimore, MD site)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related quantitative field.
