Job Summary:

Quest's Professional Laboratory Services team provides healthcare solutions for hospitals and healthcare systems including:

•       Laboratory Management services to oversee the daily operations of hospital and health system laboratories

•       Laboratory Supply Chain services to enable hospitals and health system to optimize their spend on laboratory equipment, supplies and reagents by leveraging their partnership with Quest Diagnostics

•       Lab Test Utilization Management tools, to help organizations optimize their use of diagnostic lab services for the right test, for the right patient at the right time

Quest leverages a considerable set of unique assets to deliver differentiated solutions, including a tremendous clinical repository, relationships with half of the providers and hospitals in the United States, over 2000 patient service centers, more than 650 active EMR interfaces, and approximately 15,000 mobile care professionals.  Quest's Big Data environment provides access to a clinical database that goes back to 2005, with an average of 150 million unique patient encounters per year.

The Health Informatics Lab Stewardship Analyst is responsible for providing the informatics support essential for growing the presence and success of the Laboratory Stewardship program to hospitals and health systems that utilize Quest’s Professional Lab Management services.  In partnership with the Professional Lab Services team, this critical role will demonstrate Quest Diagnostics' commitment to ensuring patients receive the right test, at the right time, at the right point of care.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

•       Work with a cross-functional team of analysts, medical doctors, business leaders, and IT professionals to develop and deliver informatics and analytics services utilizing data from CRM, EMR, LIS, and Quest’s Big Data Lake

•       Utilize strong SAS programming, quantitative and analytical skills to standardize, integrate and analyze large clinical data sets related to Lab Test Utilization

•       Develop and streamline data processing algorithms that transform non-standard data into uniform structures required for robust analysis.

•       Write reports and develop presentation materials for communicating methodologies and findings to technical and business audience.

•       Identify meaningful patterns in laboratory test results using data mining, and pattern recognition techniques (clustering, association rule mining, and decision trees).

•       Travel up to 50% domestically (work from home remaining time)

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience

•       Master’s degree in quantitative field including Business, Economics, Statistics, Biostats., or Math preferred

•       Strong SAS programming skills, experience with SQL, R, preferred

•       Experience with CRM systems preferred

•       Clinical knowledge and lab data experience preferred

•       Data manipulation on large clinical data using SAS is required

•       3+ years’ experience performing data analysis, preferably data mining, pattern recognition, statistical, and/or mathematical programming and modeling to health-related data

•       Experience with Microsoft Office products and GIS tools preferred.

•       Working with Unix operating system is required 

•       Excellent writing and communication skills

•       Strong ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities, and to work on cross-functional teams
