Product Category Manager - Lenexa, KS - Monday-Friday
This position
will play a key role in sustaining profitable business growth by effectively
managing a suite of existing and future employer population health solutions
and related products (i.e. vaccinations, home kits, clinical solutions)
services and capabilities that meet the needs of population health and employer
wellness programs. These products/services will fall within a category,
based on life-cycle status, product capabilities, or other common attributes.
This product
management role resides within Quest Diagnostics General Employer Population
Health clinical franchise and is responsible for the product management
functions and staff supporting the wellness screening product category.
The incumbent will serve as the product/service champion (establishing the
strategic course for screening services and value proposition for new and
evolving solutions, establishing priorities, defining resource requirements,
and establishing value-adding customizations), expert (being the primary
resource for commercializing employer population health solutions in home, at
worksites, and other locations.
The incumbent
will address strategic questions and prioritize opportunities as assigned by manager
/ Sr. Leader, including critical timelines and delivery against them, pricing
and product parameters to guide marketing and promotion efforts.
Through sales interactions,
studying competitors and research, the incumbent will use analytical thinking
and problem solving skills to lead high priority strategic projects, partner to
evaluate business development opportunities, and provide input to annual
strategic and marketing planning. The incumbent must possess the ability
to convert qualitative and quantitative analysis, and an understanding of the
market and its customers into insights and strategies and product plans that
build the wellness business and deliver profitable growth. In addition to
expanding the product line and effectively positioning the brand’s services to
acquire new customers, the position can also identify opportunities to increase
revenues and operating margins within existing accounts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Researches, isolates and assesses the value and potential of new products and capabilities for the assigned product solutions based on needs expressed by Sales, competitive offerings and insights, opportunities identified internally, research of publicly available data, and marketplace trends, and develops the business case for those with strong brand fit and potential for success to ensure a pipeline of solutions that ensure the continued success of the brand, and its clients and participants.
- Applies data and insights derived from them to establish the business case for innovative employee population health solutions and screening products/capabilities that achieve the Quest vision and strategies and influence new solutions, with a primary focus on personal and population health reports that educate, influence and promote health improvement.
- Completes product plans to bring new solutions and revisions to existing solutions to market, including defining their value propositions, pricing, promotional requirements, delivery models, impacts and solutions, brand, segment- and channel-specific customizations, as well as defining product scope, development timelines, milestones, key stakeholders and contributors, success metrics, and resource requirements necessary to achieve the objectives associated with their successful introductions and adoption.
- Manages and prioritizes the efforts of cross-functional, product development and delivery contributors including staff, IT, Clinical and Client Operations, Sales, Finance, Marketing, 3rd party vendors, and others to convert information, process capability and staff expertise into marketable services through traditional product development techniques and processes, including ideation, prototyping, concept development and evaluation and confirmatory research.
- Accountable for delivery of new and existing products and capabilities on agreed upon timelines and within approved budgets, and partners with Sales and Finance to establish sales and margin objectives.
- Works closely with brand marketing and marketing communication leaders to successfully commercialize and target product/capability solutions and drive the development of all market-to-order activities, in harmony with idea-to-market (“Marketing”) and order-to-cash (“Operations.”)
- Works closely with technical teams to manage life-cycle of employee population health platform interface with Quest Employer Population Health platform.
- Completes annual screening category plans that identify efforts to launch, grow, harvest and pare solutions in the incumbent’s portfolio, and provides strategic inputs to support the development of annual marketing, operations and sales planning efforts.
- Contributes to broader business initiatives, including strategic planning efforts, financial analyses, business development and major growth initiatives.
- Using advanced skills
in PowerPoint and superior written and oral presentation skills, crafts
persuasive messages and the competitive advantages of Quest Diagnostics to
customers, strategic partners and senior Quest Diagnostics management.
Qualifications:
Required
Work Experience:
- 3+ employee population health solutions expertise, ideally in the wellness, health care or related services industries.
- Training and experience in the product development of technology-driven solutions, screening and population health-related services, consumer health and wellness products are ideal with proven success in a direct to consumer and/or business-to-business health and wellness context.
Preferred Work Experience:
- Additional 2 years in business-to-business marketing or sales, technical product development
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills across multiple formats: formal presentations, meetings, conference calls, e-mails, and memos.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work sitting at a computer for long periods of time.
Skills:
- Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects and the flow of information across multiple work groups.
- Experience working in a regulated industry and a background in the sciences since an understanding of the medical, policy and regulatory environment is essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Power Point, Word and Excel.
- Ability to prepare and persuasively present clear and concise written communications, both in report and presentation formats.
- Ability to make in person
presentations clearly and effectively to large and small groups, including
senior business leadership team and clients.
Required Education: BA/BS required.
Preferred Education: Advanced degree / MBA preferred.
