The Executive Director develops and executes the strategies and plans for maintaining a strong partnership with United Health Corporation (UHC). S/He directs a team in developing business plans to execute the lab services agreement ensuring contract optimization which grows market share rapidly.  S/He represents the company as the leader of the Joint Operating Committee to assess the service model, the Shared Savings Program and the Acquisition Bonus Program.  The ED may also serve as the single-point of contact for UHG for all business relationships (e.g.: lab services, ancillary services, OPTUM billing). This role may work remotely or as a hybrid.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key leaders at UHC to ensure a mutually beneficial partnership which leads to an expansion of the partnership.
  • Develop a strategic plan which engages the CEO, SMT, RVPs, PLS, CF and other matrixed business partners with UHC leaders in meaningful interactions resulting in an expansion of the relationship.
  • Own sales leadership for the UHC account to rapidly capitalize on this unique opportunity to grow the business. Lead and own the development and achievement of the AOP with the regional leaders.
  • Primary account owner for ensuring the lab services agreement is executed and that all contract issues are resolved in a mutually beneficial manner.
  • Serve as strategy lead to optimize the Shared Savings Program (pull high-priced hospital and out-of-network volume to Quest) and the Acquisition Bonus Program (shared savings with UHC from Quest’s acquisition of highest out-of-network laboratories).
  • Manage the execution of strategic regional initiatives and business plans through a team of 4-6 Strategic Account Managers.
  • Identify and develop strategic nationwide initiatives to drive new clinical programs, innovations, process improvements and products which close a gap in service and/or add value to the providers and generates growth.
  • Provide insights on regulatory and reimbursement policies and trends from the customer/member perspective. 

As part of Health Plan leadership team, engage with other team members and segments in overall strategic planning efforts.

  • Estimated 25-50% travel required

Required Work Experience:

  • 15 years+ healthcare and payer experience at the C-level including problem resolution, account management, relationship management and contract negotiations
  • Preference for prior commercial lab experience

Knowledge:

  • Account management, client life-cycle management, contract compliance, strategic business planning, budgeting and forecasting, third party payors, sales processes.
