Position Description
The Executive Director, Consumer Marketing reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and is based at the Company’s Secaucus, NJ, office.  S/He will serve as the senior marketing leader designing and executing initiatives in support of the company’s strategic focus on becoming the “consumer laboratory of choice.”  Engaging consumers is a key element of Quest’s ‘accelerate growth’ strategy. The Executive Director will inform business investments and partnerships to elevate the Quest Diagnostics’ brand among consumers, as well as develop the integrated marketing plan to drive awareness and adoption of Quest offerings.
In order to successfully respond to the challenges of the role, the successful candidate will need to:
Generate customer insights and synthesize into demand barriers, growth opportunities and related trends to drive business priorities and support success in the customer segment. Identify, size and prioritize opportunities for investment
Develop and articulate strategy for the consumer segment and related sub-segments as well as key points of entry for specific product and solution types; Inform strategic business investments and partnerships related to the consumer segment
Partner with Clinical Franchise GM and Patient Services Leader (and other senior leaders as needed) to build a comprehensive consumer segment strategy that meets the need of the business and the consumer segment
Drive insight generation activities and distill into clear points of view on business opportunity and need to drive the business forward
Inform product development designs by HTAS, Clinical Franchises and other cross-functional partners based on consumer insights to ensure offerings are aligned to market needs and expectations (i.e., MyQuest, Microsampling, Patient Initiated Testing offerings, etc.)
Steer strategic marketing plans to drive awareness and adoption of Quest offerings by consumer segment
Drive success in Quest’s awareness and adoption efforts with the consumer segment, a segment where the diagnostics industry has historically not focused and has limited experience with tactical success
Assess awareness and adoption priorities of the business to align with investment levels and opportunities to be drive the business forward
Oversee the development of consumer marketing strategies to broaden awareness of Quest’s brand and Quest’s offerings to drive growth in the segment and increase adoption; ensure close connection and prioritization of marketing strategies to the strategic needs of the business
Ensure translation and representation of Clinical Franchise solutions and Regional priorities in annual integrated consumer marketing plans
On an ongoing basis, identify, track and communicate critical trends in the customer segment across markets, industries and competitors for key leaders at Quest
Serve on relevant Customer Leadership Teams and/or Steering Committees, contributing to the broader strategic decisions about this customer segment; liaise with other functional leaders to guide a unified approach to the customer that meets market demands
Drive alignment between national/ business priorities (e.g. program models, key messages, templates) and regional/local needs
Develop a “look of success” for consumer marketing efforts and inform senior leadership, including SMT, of progress against expectations.
Align with senior leaders, including SMT members, around needs and progress related to success with the consumer segment
Develop new methods, metrics, and scorecards for the assessment of consumer marketing efforts against the segment
Manage marketing spend on programs and use spend effectiveness measurement to improve programs and resource allocation

Qualifications
The successful candidate for Executive Director, Consumer Marketing will have the following attributes and/or experiences:
15+ years of experience in a marketing leadership role within the consumer services industry
Experience in e-commerce ventures with consumers preferred
Experience leading high performing teams and building strong team cultures
Ability to lead diverse, cross functional teams and in a matrix environment
Ability to serve on Executive Leadership Team of business line (e.g. customer segment, region, etc.)
Excellent project leadership skills to hold team members accountable for delivery on goals and expectations
Superior communication skills including ability to deliver formal business presentations to executive leadership
Superior strategic thinking and analytical skills to synthesize market/customer insights to identify business opportunities and paths to overcome business challenges
Strong capabilities in leading others to analyze data and demonstrate quantifiable opportunities or results
Up to 30% business travel required
Strong educational background including an undergraduate degree is required, an MBA is preferred
