The Data and Analytics Architect has overall responsibility for the architecture and design of solutions that encompass multiple enterprise and strategic data & analytics applications and technologies across multiple departments. The Architect is responsible for evaluating the requirements of a business or IT ask and both architecting an IT solution or perform vendor evaluations to determine if an external product can support the business ask or need. The Architect can also be responsible for developing a level of effort (LOE) to support any project request that they might get.  Solutions may cover a broad spectrum of the business (i.e. laboratory, billing, logistics, patient services, finance, legal, etc.) and applications/ technologies regardless of the architect’s primary area of expertise.  The architect is responsible for the creation and presentation of a number of artifacts including, but not limited to architecture overview documents, solution sketches, data models, integration patterns, LOE estimates, vendor evaluation scorecards, design/code review reports etc.  He/she is further responsible for leading other application architects, application developers & non-technical team members and provide design oversight and guidance at varying levels during project execution.  Finally, the Architect is charged with collaborating with the other architecture functions (such as Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure architecture) in the developing of various IT strategies and ensuring that the solutions that they lead are in support of strategic goals for the company – both business and IT.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Design end to end data and analytics solutions using cloud native technologies (AWS, Azure etc.)
-Design and architect the enterprise data ingestion, data workflows and ETL/ETL patterns.
-Designs and support solutions involving data visualization/BI tools like Cognos, Tableau, SAS and Power BI
-Define the requirements for database structure, including recovery, security, backup, and capability specifications.
-Designs advanced analytics pipelines using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
-Evaluates high level requirements from demand managers, analysts, other architects and business partners for completeness and accuracy
-Responsible for evaluating the current state of the company’s databases and other analytics systems and identify new solutions to increase efficiency and performance.
-Engages with project teams and business partners across all spectrums of business to triage requests and determine solution options
-Supports Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure Architecture teams to develop enterprise strategies, blueprints, roadmaps etc. and provides governance services for those strategies,
-Drives and provides technical leadership for cross-functional projects from design through to deployment as needed
-Provides input to RFPs and RFIs being presented to or developed by Quest Diagnostics on behalf of the IT organization
-Represents Architecture and/or IT organization as a whole in discussions with senior management and third parties (vendors, clients, joint venture partners, etc.)


Education Preferred:

-BS degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related technical field.   

Work Experience Required:

-10+ years of demonstrated IT design and/or architecture experience in the Data and Analytics.
-10-15 years’ experience working in large-scale, heterogeneous IT environments
-4+ years of AWS and/or Azure cloud implementation experience (AWS Solution architecture certification highly preferred).
-4+ years of experience in Snowflake cloud data warehousing
-4+ years of experience in Hadoop technologies like Cloudera, AWS EMR or databricks.
-8+ years of experience with BI/Visualization tools like Tableau, Cognos, Power BI and SAS.
-8+ year of experience with ETL/ELT tools like Informatica, Data Stage, and Talend
-Experience working in Matillion ETL highly preferred.


-Has deep technical expertise in Data & Analytics technology domain
