Associate Director, Genetics, the role:

The Associate Director, Genetics, reports to the licensed Medical, Scientific Director or Chief Director. The Associate Director, Genetics is responsible for providing technical review and batch release of reports and preparation of clinical cases for sign-out solely under the guidance and direction of a board-certified Genetics Director. This professional assists with the implementation of new assays and assay troubleshooting. The Associate Director provides direction and supervision of clinical testing, serves as a technical consultant to operations staff, participates in QA responsibilities, and reviews SOPs.

Job responsibilities:

• Responsible for data review and batch release as directed by board-certified Genetics Director
• Function as liaison between board-certified Genetics Directors and operations.
• Monitor compliance in regards to a safe working environment.
• Assist, as needed, in the training of technologists.
• Observe compliance with regulatory agencies, including inspections.
• Prepares quality assurance records.
• Participate in working groups of related or associated professionals.
• Represent Quest Diagnostics at professional meetings and sales events.

To qualify, the ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• MD degree or Ph.D. degree, or equivalent
• Board certification is preferred in a relevant subspecialty by the American Board of Medical Genetics or equivalent (eg American Board of Bioanalysis) 
• Current technologist license(s) by the State (CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
• NYSDOH COQ in Genetic Testing
• Technical Supervisor certification by the American Board of Bioanalysis
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory operational experience in a Genetics laboratory.
• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated good decision-making and organizational skills.
• The capability of being continuously updated in literature in regarding medical applications.
