About Consumer Initiated Testing


  • Consumer initiated testing (QuestDirect) allows patients to conveniently purchase their own laboratory tests online without going to a doctor

  • This is a rapidly evolving and growing aspect of the Quest Diagnostics portfolio

  • QuestDirect provides consumers access to a diverse menu of fifty-one test solutions and we are continually optimizing our offerings. Currently available options range from a Basic Health Profile to COVID-19 Immune Response testing

  • With QuestDirect, patients can select, purchase, and pay for tests online; manage their testing appointment online; get easy-to-understand results through their secure MyQuest™ account; and discuss any questions with a medical professional


Position Description


The Director Strategic Growth, Partnerships will play a key role in expanding access to QuestDirect.  This individual will lead business growth opportunities from identification through contract negotiation and execution.  The Director will oversee the development of partner-related strategy and operations across multiple verticals, including but not limited to Retail, Healthcare (Health System, Health Plans), Pharmaceuticals, Governments and Employers.


  • Establishes vision and profitable growth strategy for the consumer initiated testing business through strategic partnerships

  • Proactively identifies new leads and executes against them

  • Manages complex negotiations aimed at establishing the foundation for a strong working relationship with partners including sustainable economics for both parties

  • Helps define partnership/market requirements for the QuestDirect ecommerce site, requests and leverages qualitative and quantitative analysis of product/program performance, aggregates feedback, explore new strategic opportunities
  • Identifies new product features and new models to meet partner needs; acts as the product owner for the partnership user experience

  • Reviews and analyzes client, market data, and industry research; Prepares decks for pitch and other client meetings

  • Understands and acts as a source of critical information on the competitive landscape and industry offerings
  • Develops and presents business cases for new opportunities and prioritization cross-functionally (IT, Operations, etc.)

  • Collects product feedback and manages regular product/service KPI reporting (including order volume, revenue, etc.)

  • Collaborates with market research to generate insights on customer needs and desired solutions; Collaborates with business development to respond to partnership inquiries

Accountability Metrics

  • Achieve revenue, volume and margin targets in sub-segment AOP

  • Development of 3-year sub-segment Strategic Plan

  • Development of sub-segment AOP

  • Manage discretionary spend



  • Requires Bachelor’s degree.  Degree in business, marketing and/or product management.  Advanced degree/ MBA preferred

  • 7+ years relevant experience in healthcare (consumer, pharmaceuticals and/or diagnostics) preferable with at least 3 years in business development or position with a focus on strategic partnerships

  • Strong knowledge of digital healthcare

  • Consumer experience/ e-commerce experience a plus

  • Previous P&L management experience preferred

  • Executive presence, composure, KOL relationships

  • Organized, self-starter, and ability to adjust to a quickly changing landscape

  • Negotiations skills
