Position Description

The Healthcare Analytics Solutions’ Senior Medical Director will provide both clinical/medical and business perspective to support the planning, design, development, and implementation of the broad set of data, analytics and services delivered to hospitals/health systems, Health Plans and Pharma and CROs.  In addition, the Senior Medical Director will leverage specialized knowledge in analytics and clinical diagnostics to help inform Quest’s publications in public health.


Responsibilities

•         Provide scientific, medical affairs and clinical direction for Healthcare Analytics Solutions, including Lab Stewardship, Clinical Trails Patient Recruitment, and other products/services.  Drive and/or advise on the direction of health reporting efforts companywide

•         Develop and maintain an expert level of knowledge regarding products, services, infrastructure, and operations of HCAS to achieve optimal insight into product development, capabilities, support, and functionality requirements

•         Collaborate with IV leadership and partners in the strategic development of initiatives to identify product and system enhancements which may improve client appeal, process flow, and overall business function, industry reputation, and financial performance

•         Strategically evaluate and recommend data-driven solutions to improve patient health and serve the current and future HCAS client base

•         Assist in the development, review, customization, implementation, and support of informatics applications, predictive analytics, electronic health record integration and other such current or future IV product and service lines

•         Provide a team of data science professionals clinical guidance in order to execute current engagements using Quest and other data as well as guide the team’s foray into predictive analytics

•         Lead the development and publication of Health Trends reporting to maximize Quest’s status as a healthcare thought leader

•         Support creation of the HCAS portfolio, tools and assets to effectively manage resources, improve TAT, and ensure repeatability and scalability while maintaining quality and customer engagement.

•         May serve as the HCAS representative in presenting clinical and associated components of the products, services, and general mission

•         Provide consultation for clinicians and other clients regarding the application appropriateness and interpretation of HCAS reports. 

•         Support data analysis efforts to facilitate decisions and actions

•         Interact with External and Internal Clinical, R&D, franchise, commercial, and medical thought leaders to facilitate and foster increased awareness and application of Quest data-driven insights

•         Service as the HCAS Subject Matter Expert for applicable regulatory requirements for clinical and current agency interpretations. Interface with State and Government agencies as necessary.

•         Apply the Quest Management System approach for daily work and project management.

•         Travel 30% or less, as needed

Supervision Exercised:

•         Lead all assigned employee(s) reporting to this position to include: recruiting, developing and retaining exceptional professionals, actively involved in people development, mentoring and performance management

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

•         A degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited medical school

•         Active, unrestricted state medical licensure (have or obtain within one year of employment)

•         Certification/degree in medical informatics and/or predictive analytics highly preferred

•         10 years of clinical, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, or device industry experience required

•         7 years in medical informatics and/or predictive analytics as related to healthcare organizations or a government agency is strongly preferred

•         5 years in a corporate life science setting in Medical Quality, Medical Affairs, or other leadership level role required

•         Experience in writing speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format

•         Go-to-market experience a plus

•         Highly developed business acumen with the ability to apply clinical knowledge to strategic growth initiatives in the clinical informatics space, helping the business to drive customer value and differentiation 

•         A strong network and credibility with key opinion leaders

•         Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with national opinion leaders, the medical community, industry partners, scientific advisors and technology experts, as well internal stakeholders

•         Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence those outside of span of control.

•         Familiarity with best practices standards, healthcare research and related literature

•         Deep knowledge of diagnostics data and clinical related IT applications/tools

•         Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as ease in presentations to internal and external stakeholders and clients

•         Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

•         Personal adaptability and ability to lead change in an intrapreneurial environment

•         Demonstrates passion for patient care and healthcare service

Physical and Mental Requirements:       

•         Prolonged sitting/standing at a desk (i.e., operating a computer, telephone use, document review)

•         Walking or standing within the office area to operate other office equipment (i.e. printer / fax) or within the laboratory

•         Must frequently respond to text/email communications and will be required to be aware of ergonomic principles

•         May be required to travel by airplane or drive long distances

•         Ability to follow verbal or written instructions and use effective verbal and written communication
