Basic Purpose:  

This position assists in the development and implementation of the company’s internal communications strategies and processes to drive engagement and enable the flow of actionable information to all Quest Diagnostics employees. The position is part of the Internal Engagement team within Corporate Communications, working closely with the Human Resources and Employee Health departments as a dedicated business partner.  He/she will work with key HR and Employee Health contacts company wide to develop and implement communications strategies relative to major people-related initiatives, including but not limited to change management, performance management, employee benefits, inclusion/social responsibility and other areas of employee relevance. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Internal Engagement and Communications.

Key Responsibilities:
Manages development of proactive communication plans and campaigns to amplify and facilitate strategic business and cultural initiatives.

Consults with clients and vendors crafting clear, consistent messaging targeted to relevant employee segments with the appropriate context and tone.

Builds partnerships with key internal stakeholders, chief among them the Human Resources and Employee Health teams, providing both strategic counsel and writing/editing support to all areas of the function.

Assists the Sr. Manager to lead the strategy and execution for critical, multi-faceted initiative to reduce healthcare costs for the company and employees and improve care, in collaboration with Chief Medical Officer and Employee Healthcare team.

Works directly with the SVP-Chief Human Resources Officer and HR leadership team members, providing insight and support to steer messaging and positioning for key executive internal and external strategic communication opportunities.

Reinforces company vision, values and initiatives to guide and influence employee awareness, understanding and engagement, which often involves behavior changes.

Partners with Human Resources and Operations colleagues on change-management strategies for significant, confidential and highly sensitive changes affecting the employee population, including mergers & acquisitions, outsourcing and reduction in force projects, etc.

Conceives, produces and edits content for companywide channels as a regular contributor to quarterly ourQuest magazine, ourQuestonline.com (company intranet) and other employee communications vehicles.
Partners with colleagues in Marketing and manages key vendors to design and deliver integrated communication campaigns (e.g., for Annual Benefits Enrollment, Employee Survey, Blueprint for Wellness) that support engagement and help drive business results.

Oversees communications for intra-Human Resources initiatives, such as quarterly town hall meetings and HR Roundtable discussions, to facilitate proactive communications among HR teams.

Identifies relevant communications and employee engagement opportunities and events, and evaluates their effectiveness by gathering and implementing employee feedback.

Drives development of measures of communications effectiveness and provides timely analysis and reporting.

Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree is required; preferably in Communications, Journalism, or Organization Development. Master’s Degree preferred.

3-5 years of experience in the communications field, in either a corporate or agency environment. Specific experience with human resources communications preferred.

Excellent writing and editing ability, able to capture and communicate both simple and complex material.

Experience crafting messages for multiple channels, geographies and audiences.

Excellent judgment and demonstrated sensitivity and discretion for handling privileged information.

Solid knowledge of digital communication platforms that enable the organization to reach everyone and create a seamless communications network.

Business acumen; able to link corporate business objectives to effective internal communications programs.

Ability to grasp complex issues facing the company quickly and understand the nature and impacts on the business, e.g., change management, acquisitions, organizational restructuring, etc.

Dynamic, high-energy individual who initiates creative ideas and is able to follow through efficiently and effectively.

Planning ability; effectively prioritizes work into process steps; anticipates and adjusts for problems and roadblocks; evaluates results for future projects.

Ability to deal with ambiguity; can effectively cope with change; can shift gears comfortably, and can decide and act without having the total picture.

Experience working with a high degree of independence in a matrixed, complex environment and ability to collaborate with and build consensus among multiple diverse stakeholders.
