The Senior Manager, Market Research is a hands-on insights professional with expertise in using primary and secondary market research, customer analytics, and data mining to derive market insights and generate actionable business recommendations. Core to this role is the synthesis and socialization of knowledge via consultative partnerships with Quest’s Clinical Franchises, Regions, and Marketing functions.

The Senior Manager, Market Research is highly collaborative and works cross-functionally to develop insights pertaining to core customers: consumers, physicians, hospitals, health plans, and employers. Research will be deployed to evaluate market opportunities, assess product concepts and value propositions, understand customer attitudes, behaviors and needs, and optimize marketing campaigns and programs. It is critical that the Senior Manager is able to contribute in a highly matrixed organization and possesses excellent communication skills, partnering with colleagues to help them determine appropriate actions to be taken based on customer insights.

This position will manage a team of 2 – 3 manager-level market research professionals. The Senior Manager will provide technical leadership and mentorship, ensuring sound methodologies and best practices are employed by the team. Ongoing training and professional development of team members will be a high priority.

Other Responsibilities Include:
Utilize a broad range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including behavioral science and implicit research methods, to understand the conscious and non-conscious factors that drive customer decision-making.
Integrate primary and secondary research with internal and external data sets to uncover the ‘whats’, ‘whys’, and ‘so whats’ that underpin evidence-based business decisions.
Act as a trusted advisor to Franchise, Region, and Marketing leads, setting insights priorities that guide commercial strategies and tactics.
Create mechanisms (self-service portals, web pages, newsletters, live forums) to enable broad access to insights throughout Quest.
Deploy agile principles to enable, rapid, iterative, yet robust research.
Manage multiple simultaneous projects and the flow of information across multiple work groups.
Support strategic initiatives and ad hoc requests and reporting.
Organizes and allocates team and other resources efficiently; ensures consistency in analytic methodologies.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. Masters level degree in market research, mathematics, economics, business, or related field (e.g. MBA, MPH, MS) preferred.
8+ years of progressively expanding roles in market research, data analytics, marketing, business intelligence or other related discipline within a commercial environment.
4+ years managing entry- and junior-level market research staff, actively guiding their professional development.
Ability to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed organization.
Experience working in a regulated industry preferred. Experiences working within life-sciences and customer experience are a strong plus.
Ability to prepare and persuasively present clear and concise written communications, both in report and presentation formats.
Ability to make in-person presentations clearly and effectively to large and small groups, including senior business leadership team and clients (health plans, policymakers).
Experience in cultivating information from publicly available sources, including the internet, public records, and third-party sources.
Understanding of statistics as it relates to interpreting market research data and understanding their limitations.
Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products, statistical packages (SAS, SPSS), SQL, and data visualization tools (Tableau).
