Purpose


Establish, implement and sustain enterprise-wide E2E Lab Ops equipment and maintenance strategies, enabling the transfer of practical skills and knowledge to maintenance, operations and engineering professionals to increase lab productivity, equipment reliability, uptime and safety, and drive down maintenance and operating costs


Duties & Responsibilities


• Define roles, standards, development for Biomedical Engineers (BMEs)/Bio-Analytical (BAIs) & center-led standards for technical management, quality management and maintenance 
• Design and develop the company’s lab automation strategy
• Interface with lab automation suppliers in RFP and strategic negotiations
• Manage and maintain a centralized Equipment Inventory Management System 
• Ensure technical requirements are met and understood by local, frontline experts regarding installation, use and maintenance of various types of diagnostic testing equipment
• Establish and drive enterprise-wide adoption of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program including standard tools and processes
• Drive and ensure successful project execution – meeting deliverables on time and within budget
• Partner with Procurement to identify and evaluate suppliers in regards to service, equipment and instrumentation 
• High-degree of cross-functional collaboration and coordination with numerous field and corporate entities
• Work across lab sites to analyze and prioritize opportunities
• Directly supervise a team of Automation Engineers, Reliability Engineers, and Automation project managers 
• Indirectly oversee Biomedical Engineer enterprise network
• Position requires up to 80% travel, flexibility and availability to support 24/7 work environments as needed

Qualifications


• BS required, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial) preferred; MBA preferred
• Certified Project Manager
• SMRP Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) / ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in all pillars of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
• Minimum - 10 years’ experience in project management and creation, successful execution and sustainment of large-scale and large capital initiatives (laboratory automation preferred)Minimum 10 years of practical experience with continuous improvement methodologies (basics of TPM, Lean Manufacturing or similar) & tools (Critical Path Schedule, Risk Management, etc.)
• Minimum 5 years people management
• Experience in a highly-matrixed environment
• Proven ability to realize cost-savings attributed to efficiency gains, process improvements, etc.
• Experience with organizational transformation & change management; High Performance Working Systems as a plus
• Thorough knowledge of Medical Equipment/device Inspection & Preventive Maintenance (IPM) and understanding of technical requirements regarding installation, use and maintenance of various types of diagnostic testing equipment
• Asset Management/Preventive Maintenance software utilization
