Senior Clinical Cardiology Consultant

 Basic Purpose:

Ø  Drive profitable growth by providing strategic insight that bridges both clinical and commercial needs of both external and internal customers and shortens the selling cycle.  Work with Commercial teams to co-target and co-close specialty cardiometabolic testing opportunities where clinical expertise is critical to the sales process and client decision-making.  


Duties and Responsibilities:

Ø  Work with the commercial team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer clinical objections and develop the strategy to resolve any clinical hurdles.

Ø  Work closely with cardio ESDs, CAEs, key regional staff and with the Clinical Franchise on identifying strategies and opportunities to drive our specialty testing growth within all market segments.

Ø  Facilitate the development of client specific strategies and implement the plan in collaboration with sales leaders and sales reps.

Ø  Educate sales reps on new products and services, and how best to sell to targeted customers.

Ø  Partner with sales reps on call to introduce new products and services to clients.

Ø  Participate in customer business reviews to understand customer needs, provide clinical insights and build client relationships.

Ø  Cultivate relationships with clinical thought leaders who will promote Quest Diagnostics' products.

Ø  Leverage all tools and resources (including data, sales portal, target lists; Marketing Department, Laboratory resources, and Center of Excellence resources as needed)

Ø  Develop processes to identify competitive tactics and products; collaborate with Clinical Franchise to develop proactive approaches to competitive threats.

Ø  Partner with Marketing and provide insights for new product launches from a clinical sales perspective.

Ø  Use your experience and presentation skills to engage with clients to understand both their clinical and practice-based requirements, and persuasively present relevant and medically necessary solutions from Cleveland HeartLab/Quest Diagnostics.

Ø  Understand and communicate the comprehensive value proposition of Quest’s cardiovascular center of excellence at Cleveland HeartLab to all current and future clients of Quest.

Ø  Ensure compliance with all company policies and government regulations



Bachelor’s degree in related field required; prefer life sciences

Work Experience:

Ten years or more of experience in a fast-paced, cardiometabolic lab sales environment with an emphasis on customer-facing clinical expertise and education.


Ø Demonstrated success developing relationships with physicians in the cardiometabolic space, which resulted in successful closure of new business; a proven sales track record

Ø Specific knowledge of clinical lab operations, commercial, and marketing and their cross-functional interdependency.

Ø Capable of influencing other sales reps toward product differentiated/clinical selling without a direct line authority over them

Ø Ability to work effectively in a team environment and in a matrix with multiple sales leaders requiring flexibility and collaboration

Ø Experience and track-record in successful new product launches

Ø Strong planning, organizing and time management skills

Ø Effective communication, consulting and training skills

Ø Experience in conducting research and familiarization with clinical publications is a significant plus.

Ø Functional PC skills including use of Microsoft Software and SFDC

Ø Able to travel 50% by land and air
