Science Director – Endocrinology / Metabolism

Position Description:

The Science Director - Endocrinology is viewed as a leading expert in the field of Endocrine/Metabolism/Diabetes diagnostics, and demonstrates exceptional scientific creativity and vision. This person is ultimately responsible for developing information that extends scientific knowledge in the field of Endocrinology. 

Key Accountabilities:

•         Interacting and collaborating with internal and external clients, through conference calls and meetings.  Also will conduct briefings and technical meetings with scientific partners.

•         Representing the organizational unit as prime internal and external contact for client contracts, R&D, and lab operations. 

•         Interacting with executives concerning matters of significance to the company. 

•         Conveying ideas and information verbally and in writing, in a detailed manner. 

•         Serving as organization spokesperson and SME on advanced Endocrine programs and projects. 


•         Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or similar science discipline is required. Subspecialty in Endocrinology, Diabetes, or Metabolism is preferred.  (ASCP subspecialty exam certification in Chemistry, for example)

•         California Scientist License required for the state of California (or ability to obtain license).

•         California Director’s license required to perform Clinical Consultant job duties. 

•         NY CoQ’s in clinical chemistry or endocrinology preferred, or ability to obtain license.

•         3+ years of post doc/post fellowship experience required in Endocrinology/Diabetes/Metabolism

•         Experience in using automated chemistry and immunoassay platforms, Mass Spec, and other technologies are required. (Analyzers, HPLC, LC, GC, ELISA, etc.)

•         Experience with developing and validating new assays, or updating new methods or reagents, is required.

•         Must possess exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, and be an effective collaborator with both internal and external clients. 

•         Must be able to demonstrate business acumen and be computer savvy
