Quest provides analytical solutions for leading public health organizations and therapeutics companies in the pre- and post-market as well as for clinical trials design, physician outreach and patient outreach. 

We’re currently recruiting for a Project Manager to support our pharma and clinical trials-related product lines. The Project Manager will lead a variety of software development projects to apply Quest Management System (QMS) principles and tools to ensure Quest Diagnostics is efficient and effective in the delivery of its services, solutions, and processes while improving customer and employee satisfaction.

The Quest Management System (QMS) is Quest Diagnostics’ approach to using a set of proven tools and methodologies to drive successful execution of, and results from, key initiatives and day-to-day work. It is the structured way we manage, lead, and solve problems. It is built on 7 practices:

Job Responsibilities

•         Leads projects and working teams to effectively initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close

•         Leads projects through issues, roadblocks, and problems

•         Acts as a change agent to drive teams toward success

•         Guides team members to perform through issues and constraints

•         Owns the timeline, budget, resource constraints, and deliverables / results

•         Shifts between the "big picture" and the small-but-crucial details

•         Prepared to roll up their sleeves and work through detailed issues

•         Ensures all appropriate tools are completed and used effectively (e.g., charter, Gantt chart, status updates)

•         Actively communicates with project sponsors, vendors and stakeholders

•         Establishes regular points of communication

•         Manages sponsor and stakeholders expectations

•         Delivers the expected results

•         Performs root cause analysis on project shortfalls and takes corrective action as necessary

•         Applies QMS principles and tools toward a variety of small to medium projects as well as other necessary skills, such as:

    • Identifying root causes of issues and designing solutions that address them
    • Defining, monitoring, and controlling processes
    • Understanding (internal/ external) customer needs and designing solutions around them
    • Identifying the impacts from change and developing proactive change plans

Qualifications/ Job Requirements

•         Demonstrated experience (3-5 years) of leading a sizable portfolio of software projects from initiation to completion

•         Comfortable presenting to senior leadership and working closely with product managers

•         Experience working closely with 3rd party vendors

•         Some experience in continuous improvement and leading change

•         Effective written and verbal communication skills across multiple formats: formal presentations, meetings, conference calls, e-mails, and memos 

•         Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with others

•         Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

•         Exposure to using Project Management Tools like SmartSheet, Microsoft Project, Rally, and/or JIRA

•         Comfortable using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Training and Education

•         Bachelor’s degree preferred

•         Formal training in project management or continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management, Lean, Theory of Constraints) desired

•         Provided Training (to be completed within 6 months of joining Quest)

•         QMS “Core Practitioner Training” (internally provided) which includes:

    • Customer Insights training
    • Process Management training
    • Continuous Improvement
    • Project Management training
    • Change Management training
