JOB SUMMARY:

Assist in discussions with functional and technical experts during functional needs analysis. Provide expertise to technical experts to execute assigned tasks involving application coding, job control language coding, LAN/WAN interfaces, database and function calls, testing, and operations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend meetings with customer, systems analyst, and programmers during definition of specifications in order to understand role of the assigned technical tasks to the delivery of system functionality.
  • Monitor work effort and report task completion status to avoid project slippage.
  • Code assigned application in appropriate programming language, job control language, and utilities.
  • Execute unit test plans, accurately report results, and suggest possible solutions to problems.
  • Test Operations Instructions and suggest improvements.
  • Maintain assigned application source code and job control language.
  • Maintain and resolve code problems on both a scheduled and on-call basis.
  • Meet scheduling deadlines and project commitments.
  • Provide suggestions and input for training of Computer Operations and end users.
  • Document technical and functional aspects of assigned work areas.
  • Regarded as the first point of contact with expertise in specifically assigned areas including: basic LAN administration, data communications, PC troubleshooting, PC software maintenance, voice-mail systems, and email systems.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • AA degree in Computer Science (or in progress) with an emphasis on application programming and LAN/telecommunications administration.

Work Experience:

  • None required but exposure to business environment including Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Financial Statements, Accounts Payable, and Credit/Collections is desirable.

Special Requirements:

  • Understand the theories and concepts of database design, telecommunications, LAN/WAN, PC, and mid-range computer disciplines.
