Job Description

Overview:

In cooperation with St Vincent and Community Hospital administration, develops and oversees a comprehensive program for all hospital operated Point of Care (POCT) locations. Duties include:

Acts as a consultant on hospital POCT Committees.
Coordinates all POCT in owner hospitals as defined by contract(s).
Reviews Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and patient results.
Ensures that all reagents and test systems are QC'd appropriately.  Maintain reagent inventory and ensures appropriate quality control.
Coordinates and reviews validation studies for new instruments/methods.
Writes testing procedures for Point of Care and ensures annual review of all procedures.
Provides direction to support technicians to ensure appropriate oversight and management of testing results and test systems are maintained and supported.
Helps ensure competency levels of testing personnel.
Generates billing data that supports activities associated with POCT oversight.
Reviews proficiency testing summaries.
Develops and compiles QA data reports as directed by the POC Committee.
Develops and implements corrective action to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
Assists with POCT inspections conducted by JCAHO, ISDOH and/or CAP.
Assists Point of Care Director in oversight of Point of Care Support Technicians to include training, performance appraisals, and oversight with regards to any personnel concerns.

Promotes positive communication with clients, coworkers, and affiliated hospital staff.  Must provide a positive atmosphere and image by practicing customer service skills.
Provide instruction, information, and overall assistance to internal and external customers regarding laboratory and specimen data, problem resolution, company services, and testing policies and procedures in order to promote excellent service and client goodwill. Considerable tact and discretion is essential.

We are seeking the following background: 

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science required

Five years' experience in a healthcare setting, preferably working within a high complexity laboratory
ASCP certification is strongly preferred
