Job Description

The Manager - Brand Strategy will support Quest’s focus on building a leading brand. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Brand & Marketing Enablement, the position will be responsible for the development and management of tools and processes that manage the Company’s brand architecture and brand positioning. This individual will assist with the deployment of our brand architecture across the organization; set benchmarks for the company’s brand; and support the ongoing measurement of brand equity.

The Manager – Brand Strategy will work cross-functionally to consult, develop, and/or execute programs that support our brand platform, naming, and brand architecture. This includes serving as a key stakeholder with M&A on all acquisitions and integrations. The role will partner with the director of brand identity and creative services to manage our visual and verbal identity, trademarks, and intellectual property, including the development and maintenance of our brand asset portal.

The Manager – Brand Strategy also will liaise with key functional peers across the enterprise, on evolution and maintenance of our subspecialty brands – Quest Advanced, Quest Quanum, Quest Direct.

Key Accountabilities: Assist in the development of long-term brand strategy for the Company’s brands.
Support the brand integration plan for newly acquired brands.
Assist in the development of brand positioning and messaging for the company brand as well as the Company’s specialized competency brands.
Manage a process for consistently delivering our company/brand positioning and customer value proposition across multiple segments and customer types (including the upkeep and deployment of communication tools).
Develop and maintain an employee brand champion program.
Assist in brand measurement, research, and valuation efforts.
Interpret and leverage market research to support strategy and brand building activities.
Be up-to-date on the company’s key competitive set and positioning.
Be a custodian of, and guide for, product and solution naming process.
Maintain brand and product naming decision tools.
Drive internal understanding of brand and the role that Quest colleagues play in delivering the brand through education and engagement.
Work with operations and marketing colleagues to translate the Quest Diagnostics brand into a differentiated experience.
Partner with the director of brand identity and creative services to manage our visual and verbal identity, trademarks, and intellectual property, including the development and maintenance of our brand asset portal.

Education Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree, Business degree preferred

Qualifications: A minimum of 5 years work experience including experience in brand management, including experience developing brand messaging and positioning for leading brands.
B-to-B brand management/strategy experience or experience in an agency working with B-to-B accounts is preferred.
Experience in analyzing and measuring brand equity as well as brand programs.
Knowledge of brand architecture frameworks, naming processes, nomenclature systems.
Experience with centralized brand governance/ stewardship (people, process, tools) in a highly distributed matrix environment.
Up to 15% business travel required.
Team oriented – ability to lead diverse, cross functional teams and in a matrix environment.
Excellent project leadership skills to ensure execution.
Superior communication skills including ability to deliver formal business presentations to executive leadership.
Initiative – ability to independently problem solve and find resolutions.
