Basic Purpose:

A Test Lead is a senior testing professional whose primary function in a designated Application Portfolio, is to coordinate and supervise day to day activities as they relate to a Quality Roadmap / Strategy within the committed timeline and quality standards.  This role is accountable for managing highly cross functional and complex testing efforts. This role is charged with the oversight of test estimation, test planning, test development, test execution and risk impact analysis. The Test Lead is responsible for developing a test strategy that identifies the required test approaches (e.g. manual, regression, and automated) and the resources (e.g. people, technology, data) to adequately verify that the project delivers at the expected quality level.

Please note this position allows for flexibility.  The professional will work both at home and on-site. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Leads and coordinates test activities for multiple and concurrent cross functional projects within a Practice.
Contributes to level of effort estimates, assigning resources, delegating tasks, and monitoring progress.
Creates test strategy and test plan, including reviews of the test plan documents on multiple projects.
Leads or participates with management in planning and executing testing activities for projects, including testing scope, artifacts, timelines, and reviews.
Coordinates scheduling for system, integration and End-to-End testing, and communicates with testing partners where there are multiple systems and application development teams involved.
Ensures Defect Management processes are followed, including logging, reporting, and re-testing of defects.
Tracks and monitors project test estimates relative to actual testing hours.
Review the test cases, data, and other artifacts produced within the team for quality standards.
Supports resource management activities for Practice Management, which includes Managing transition / onboarding of staff (Assets, Access, etc.),
Collect, establish and collate weekly status reports for management and stakeholders
Participates in collection and reporting of project metrics.
Assures quality of test process documents.
Accountable for on-time delivery working with team to complete all assigned tasks with high quality
Supports test automation processes.
Coach and mentor resources providing continuous performance feedback
Works with off-shore team to get all deliverables on time and with high quality


Education Preferred:  Bachelor’s degree and/or work equivalent experience in Computer Science, analytics, informatics, health care or equivalent.

Work Experience:          
-Possess broad expertise of testing approaches, practices and techniques in order to help design and deliver the overall testing methodology used by the team.
-Have the ability to monitor the effectiveness of the testing function and bring about improvements through insights gained via analysis at all stages of the SDLC/STLC.
-Minimum of 8 years of experience in a senior Software Development or Quality Assurance Role.
Modular Automation framework utilization, preferably BDD with Gherkin/Cucumber
-Strong decision and problem solving skills.
-Ability to collaborate with stakeholders execute, complete test events and approaches within the allotted timeline and within quality standards.
-Strong communication skills with all the key stakeholders to communicate quality progress and assess quality.

Technical Knowledge needed:
-Strong understanding of clinical data/order flow
-Strong understanding of HL7 message validation
-Basic understanding of laboratory instrument workflow
-Understanding of Molecular Genetics testing/biotechnology educational background
-In depth knowledge of sequencing data, annotations, and standard bioinformatics tools.
-Understanding of genomics pipelines and data.

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Experience facilitating/leading business process reengineering
-Availability for patch, release and other production related deploys that fall outside of business hours
-Ability to mentor staff as needed and assist the Test Manager to in demand management.
-Advocate of Quality Assurance, Continuous Improvement and industry recognized Best Practices.
-Ability to drive initiatives to completion
-Knowledge of TCoE Test Events, Test Approaches and supporting services to achieve quality and execution goals.
-Healthcare knowledge desired.
