Basic Purpose

This position will be the point person for answering all questions related to Test costing and profitability of new tests or existing tests that are updated using the QPM (Quest Profitability Model).  This position will require working closely with multiple functions though out the organization in the Idea to Market process and will be responsible for collecting, understanding and reviewing assumptions that impact the test profitability. This position plays a central role in our go / no-go decision process and the appropriate prioritization of company resources necessary to drive profitable growth. 

Duties and Responsibilities

QPM (Quest Profitability Model) Completion:

  • Serve as primary liaison to Clinical Franchises to gather AWR from pricing and franchise, forecasted volume estimates from franchise/regional commercial leadership and testing location proposals from franchise/regional commercial leadership

  • Compiles, review data and/or manages the population of the QPM with appropriate data and checks for reasonableness and asks for clarifications, as needed

  • Works with the Clinical Franchises to model various cost of sales variables and their impact on Cost of Testing

  • Develops a strong operational understanding of all inputs and appropriately challenges inputs / assumptions

  • Develop a strong understanding of ACORN and Esoteric cost of testing data and provide data as benchmarks where required

QPM Output Analysis:

  • Validates financial assumptions/outputs of QPM

  • Serves as business partner and consultant to key stakeholders in making business decisions; identifies key assumptions/risks in input variables in completed QPM template

  • Understands the full financial impact of new/modified test launches as captured with the P&L dashboard and provides guidance to key stakeholders on P&L impact. Data captured in this process may feed the budget / forecast / invigorate stakeholders process

QPM Tool Ownership:

  • Manages the update and enhancement process of QPM templates by soliciting and receiving feedback and suggestions to improve the tool

  • Partners with Finance and Cost Accounting to import ACORN and regional P&L information to QPM template

  • Provide QPM/Test Costing training to enable the organization to provide inputs into the

  • QPM tool

eDBR Cost Approval:

  • Approve test-code costs for Esoteric Region eDBR test code launch/change case submissions in a timely fashion

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting

  • MBA and/or CPA a plus

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills

  • Some professional accounting/finance experience
